And it seems like I interact with people who love to engage in monologues about themselves and it wouldn't really matter if I'm there or not.

So, that's probably why seeing T is so important to me. For once in my life someone is actually listening to me. It WAS on my list that I took to her on first session that I wanted to be HEARD but I'm just now realizing, thanks to this thread, how pervasive that feeling is that I have. I actually feel invisible most of the time in my life. I feel that I'm only valued if I get my work done and tasks completed.
You are not alone in this, skysblue. I am sensitive like that too. With my therapist, I feel like i'm really being heard for the first time.

WePow, I glad you communicated with your therapist about how upset you were.

I would be angry and feel dismissed ;-), but I would also ask for the time to be added on at an upcoming session or the difference in what I paid for the hour back. Frankly, the way I see it, he is "robbing" you and should have rescheduled whoever came second on his calendar. I definitely do NOT like how he said things about you retunring either - even if he felt defensive from your body language or something.

OTOH, I can be confrontational so maybe others have better advice...

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
