Rereading this thread has been very interesting. Thanks again for all the suggestions and insights!
![]() I'm now reframing my T's "mistakes" as paths she tried with me, as my guide. Some worked; some didn't.Since I started this thread, something shifted inside of me and I feel better about my relationship with her. I also trust my decisions about what is good for me or not. My T and I are partners, but she's still my guide. She's not perfect but she knows a lot more about some things than I do. More importantly, she's there for me. She's there to listen to me and not judge me. She has compassion for me and would never voluntarily hurt me. She wants what is best for me. Though she wouldn't say she loves me, I know that she does. ![]() I accept and feel that she's not my mother nor my friend. She's someone much better for me. She's my therapist. |

She said, I'm your guide in this sense: I know what kind of terrain we are likely to meet, I know what kind of features are worth looking at, I speak some of the native languages. But I've never been here before, and there is no map. We don't know where we are going, and we certainly don't know the best route. We are explorers.
