My appointments have normally been on Thursdays, but I'd had one on a Friday under special circumstances. On Tuesday, I double checked my appointment card to make sure it was Thursday at the usual time. Nope, he made it for Friday at the usual time.
So I get up early, shower and dress, do hair and makeup, drive the 30 minutes - AND HE'S NOT IN THE OFFICE TODAY. He didn't even have my appointment written in his book. The receptionist said I wasn't in his book for any day this week. Now, granted, I didn't have anything to talk about, and I've been going in feeling better than when I leave because I think it's been a good, calm stress-free two weeks and then he tells me that it really wasn't. So I really wasn't looking forward to going today anyway. But I only have a week's worth of meds left and I don't see the doc for another 5 weeks. I'm saying to myself "you didn't lose two hours by getting ready and driving round trip, you gained an hour, because you were planning on being out of the office the entire time anyway." But I still can't help being annoyed that 1. He forgot to put me in his book, and 2. He's not even in the office today. ![]()

GGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRr hang onto that appointment card and discuss this with T, for sure. I'm sorry you have to figure out other arrangements on the med... that's always a hassle to me.
T's are human...and it's difficult enough to have to deal with "humans" the other hours, but when T does something so "human" it affects us more, imo. TC

I even pulled out the appt. card and called the office back to make sure they were looking in Tim's appointment book and not Jim's. They were looking in the right book. He fills in his own book at the same time that he fills in the reminder card. (Or doesn't in this case).
If they can bill us for not showing up for an appointment, you'd think we as patient's could be reimbursed for T not showing up. I took time off work and burned up gas that I wouldn't have had to otherwise. Now I'm going to have to drive down again next week to pick up meds after doc comes in on Tuesday. It's the county clinic, so he's only in one day a week. I'll get over it. I'm just irritated at the moment.

My only question is, why are you trying not to be annoyed with him? Sounds like you have good grounds to be annoyed with him.

I'm trying not to be annoyed because I didn't really want to go today anyway. This was a relatively easy out. Still, it took two hours out of MY day when it shouldn't have. If I would have called yesterday and canceled (an appointment that didn't exist in the first place) I'd feel a whole lot better. The only reason I was keeping it was to get my meds refilled. He KNEW I needed a refill and he needed to get them for me. He's always on my case to not cut back to half dose when I'm running low, but when he falls through on his end, it's my only choice other than staying on full dose and then quitting meds altogether once they're gone. Argh!
I've got mixed feelings about it. On one hand I should just let it slide. On the other, I feel like I'm somehow unimportant and easily forgotten. Another day I sat in the waiting room for 30 minutes because the receptionist didn't tell him I was there, and it was on a day when I was in major meltdown from lack of sleep and being on the wrong meds. I should let it go, or else I'm going to get even more worked up. ![]()

That would really make me angry if my T did that with me. You have good reason to be annoyed and the fact that you're so low on meds is good reason to be!
Call your T as soon as you can and tell him you're almost out of meds, though. That's very important.

Yeah, I think I see what you're saying. It's like you don't want to let yourself feel annoyed because you might get too worked up about it and make things harder on yourself.

T's are human. But, I would be irritated if my T did that. As for meds, go get those as it sounds like you plan to do on Tuesday or Thursday. I forgot which day already.
I would mention the mistake to my T. Atleast she could apologize to me for inconveniencing me. I think the receptionist should have also appologized to you when you showed them the appointment card. I am glad that you didn't feel a desperate need to talk to him/her. I darn near cried when I found out my T was out sick. I didn't but I came close. GGGRRRR! |

He called while I was picking my daughter up from school. Turns out my appointment was written down in last year's schedule book and when he switched to this year's he forgot to transfer it over. I'm probably not the only one it happened to.

At least it was an honest mistake...
But I understand how it would be extremely annoying. You T can prescribe meds?

No, but he talks to the doctor each Tuesday. If someone needs meds before they're going to see the doc again, T can hand out samples and prescriptions that the doc readies.
