Why was the original question directed to believers? I am an atheist, but would like to say, like Chopin99, this brand new never before felt experience with unconditional love is quite compelling. If someone forced me to believe, I would choose T's religion, simply because that is my experience with unconditional love--it has been my T. I don't attribute this to "god working through T" or anything (nor does she), but I also don't close myself off to most things; if unconditional love = God....the back door is open. I might even manage to offer a cup of tap water (no time for cooking, etc.)

But if God created the spinning planet and the forces that cause these meteorological conditions to happen...

Me: "I'm not disconnected from my emotions. I just don't feel anything when I'm here."
(Pause)
Me: "Doc, why are you banging your head against the arm of your chair?"
Doc: "Because I'm not close enough to a wall."

It's official. I can even make therapists crazy.

Well, this is purely your own opinion. I respect your right to hold this opinion but there is no evidence whatsoever to prove that God created anything. None. I have lots of evidence that these things (spinning planets, meteorological conditions) happen because of scientifically understandable reasons.

That said, I am a very spiritual person. I spend 8 hours every weekend at my temple and 4 hours every Wednesday evening. I volunteer even more hours to sit on the board, and I donate time and money to the maintenance of our temple grounds. Just because I don't believe in your god doesn't mean I don't believe in anything spiritual. Somehow, though, I am able to easily reconcile my religious views with rational, scientifically accepted explanations of known phenomena. My t and our relationship being just one of those phenomena.

I'm sorry to hear it, I couldn't live without God.

Thanks for your input into this thread. Please remember what the original question is from the OP.

This thread was not asking for a discussion on whether or not anyone believes in (a) God. The OP wanted to know if "believers" felt their relationship with their T brought them closer to God.

While everyone is entitled to their beliefs, this is not the place to discuss or generalize what others should believe or not believe.

Please keep your responses tuned with the OP's question.

Thanks!

Maybe the OP should clarify "believer" because no matter what one believes in, it's just as important and real as anyone's belief.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
