On Thursday's I work a 1/2 day. From 12-5. But today, I was sleeping nice and cozy and my boss ended up calling me at 7AM asking me to come take the girls to school because their dad mistakenly took the car with the car seats in it. I have the other set of car seats in my car. So, yea..I was up and out by 7:45 when normally on Thursdays I don't have to be up and out until 12. So..now its almost 9 and I'm up and dressed with nothing to do and nowhere to go. Coffee has already been consumed.

Good thing people seems to be off work now, I was getting a bit bored on the couch by myself.
Lola did something specific happen at work today that sparked this new attitude? It sounds like a good one though. |

Had a pretty good day actually, though I didn't get much work done - I've been down with a severe cold for a while and still have a fever so I'm very tired. I did sort out some urgent work stuff over email, which brought my stress levels down a bit, though I'm still freaking out about two lectures I have to give next week. I also had a proper lunch, which I didn't yesterday, and my husband had bought ice cream for me (because when you're ill you're supposed to get ice cream) which was a really sweet gesture. This evening some friends came over and we played games, which was really fun. It's almost midnight now and I'm about to turn in for the night.

I actually got done work an hour early and went to grab dinner with the hubby now I am home ready to walk my dogs then get into chill mode for the rest of the night. So-all in all-I'm feeling okay. Now I am craving chocolate milk although I just got done eating bad food.

I'm still at work because I have to wait for hubby to get off work; I have to pick him up. We live 20 miles from the town in which we work and our surveyors didn't leave until 5:00.
Which is a whole 'nother story. These people make our regular state surveyors seem like happy little fairies who spread pixie dust over us. They picked on my boss' risk management plan because at the top of the page it said "Risk Assessment Analysis". I feel like I've been interrogated for six hours straight. And we are paying these motherf**kers $15000 for this certification (that we may not get...we probably will, but still). In fact, here is a photo of me in real time. Don't I looked thrilled:

Sounds like a long day- but like Lola said-perhaps day 2 will be a little easier. At least they will leave at 3. Reward yourself for truckin through it.

The old geezer surveyor might appreciate the "dress up"; he took a liking to me. The big b***h and I didn't get along from the moment we met. Then again...she said at one of the facilities she works at, she has a blind and deaf client. So different "textures" are used to communicate people. She said she wanted to be "feathers", but her coworkers said she had to be "sandpaper". ![]() That would be my "tired and pi**ed-off" look. This is how I looked when I went to session Tuesday...and T said, "Oh my, you look so tired."

There is a scene where John Cleese's character is trying to break bad news to a private and has them all stand in a row and says something like "Everyone who has a mother, step forward" and then they all do step forward and he says "No. not you Smith" and that is how Cleese tells the guy his mother has died. And Cleese is confused when that is not the gentle way to break bad news.
I feel like that. And my parent is ill. |

Good morning everyone ![]() I could have seen T today, but opted to be sensible and save the money as I already saw her on Weds. Feeling proud for making a Healthy Adult decision, but also kind of sad. I'm going to the dentist which shares T's waiting room though, so I'm going to leave some macaroons I made in the waiting room and text her to go get them- she's working 11 hours back to back so figure she could use the sugar lift. T and I do a lot of bonding over baked goods! Right, *must* now write this interview schedule for my research. Join me on the couch when you lazy American lot finally wake up! ![]() |
