Good luck Chopin.

I'm not American but I see a somewhat lazy day ahead anyways with some good couch time.

Improving congrats on making adult decisions - there not always fun or easy. I will join in some hot chocolate as not a coffee person either.

Already flirted with him this morning. He's grilling my boss right now. The woman shut herself in the conference room.

I'm so tired of hearing, "The standard says, the standard says, the standard says..." ad nauseum. While I've been typing this, I've heard him say it twice.

I'm sitting in an easy chair with a wicked migraine, trying not to throw up, and watching my dog play with a ball with herself out the window. When our elderly dog was having issues with arthritis, we built her a handcapped ramp to get up on the deck. The new dog drops her ball on the top of the ramp, chases it down the ramp and out into the yard, grabs it and carries it back up to the top of the ramp and drops it to chase it again. It's really adorable. Too bad I have to stop watching to go puke now.

Hope you feel better soon MKAC! I get migraines too, so I understand how you feel!

Well, I just got grilled for an hour by the lady. She's acting much nicer today than she was yesterday; doesn't make the grilling any easier, though. Now we wait for 1:30 with the "pre-exit" meeting, then the "exit" meeting at 2:00. Hard thing is we won't really know how we did for 6-8 weeks!

tkdgirl, one hot chocolate coming up. Do you like sprinkles?

Apologies to all for the 'lazy American' thing- I do not actually think Americans are lazy, obviously. Or indeed have any other global beliefs about Americans! It was a very clumsy way of expressing the fact that most board members are the other side of the Atlantic and at least 5 hours behind me, so are justifiably still sleeping when it's 9am here!

How appropriate!

LC sorry that your dog is sick. Our family dog was sick a few months back and it's not a easy thing to deal with especially since they can't tell us what's wrong not to mention the crazy costs involved. Hopefully ur dog will get better soon.

I'm sorry to hear about your dog, LC. Whenever our furry kids get sick, it seems like $ just slips away plus it's so hard to see them suffering.

Anyway...

I'm not going to be a ray of light to anyone today myself for several reasons: 1. I just added up the bills that must be paid and that sum is more than the total of our bank account. That hasn't happened to us in YEARS. H and I both make good money, but he's making a bit less over the past year because he used to be able to pick up more overtime. I'm salaried, so there's not much I can do.
2. I also haven't done our taxes (fixing to do that now) and we usually owe, so I'm kinda nervous about that, even though H had more taken out of his check this year (another reason we don't have the $ we used to have).
3. I was supposed to get together with ex-GF and her kids today because I still have all their Christmas presents sitting in my living room. She is 47 years old with a 6 year old and a 5 year old; bipolar, severe anxiety disorder, menopausal, and her H works out of town so she has a hard time with the two kids by herself. I've not been in a place to help much and she hasn't asked anyone for much help. Hence, Christmas in April. We're going to do it tomorrow.
4. I'm still trying to wind down from the CARF survey at work.
5. I have to travel to our work site 3.5 hours away Tuesday and Wednesday to teach new staff CPR/1st Aid and protective interventions. I've never taught those classes before by myself because I don't like teaching or talking in front of a bunch of people. I really need to study.
6. I suffer from chronic neck from a sports injury I incurred in high school and two rear-end collisions in my early 20's. It is killing me today. I just took a Vicodin and some Klonopin to help with that.

Sorry for the rant of problems, but I gotta get them out of my system or I'm going to explode. H is working today, so I'm at home alone.

I'm spending the weekend alone. Haven't spoken to a single person in over 26 hours (unless you count my two cats), and am revelling in the feeling of freedom and solitude. Am also wasting a lot of engergy beating myself up (mentally) about not getting more work done... there are some things I absolutely have to get done before Monday, and it's already Saturday evening.

And I'm trying to formulate an email to an important friend I've been pushing away recently. Last night I dreamt that I was trying frantically to phone him without success. I think my subconscious is telling me to try to restore the friendship. Not sure if I'll actually manage to write anything though - I keep getting stuck in the "people are better off not hearing from me" thought spiral, and get hyper critical about every word I write. Although perhaps now that I've told you, I'll be able to dash something off

Sorry you have the blues, honey. I have to drive 10 hours to mobile alabama by myself to a wedding of my cousin friday and back on Tuesday... So i know the feeling... Books on tape and coffee. 5 hour energy. As for teaching, look at it like your talking to your friends here... Ok maybe a little more filter...lol

1. They dont know, you are teaching them.
2. Take candy for rewards to questions.
3. Pipe cleaners.. My company started placing pipe cleaners and stress balls on the tables for classes and it allows the figiters to fidgit without checking BB or Computer. Awesome!
4. Use an ice breaker... I have a few ideas from my work you can use depending on content.
5. Break and break often!
6. Dont lose control feel free to call out those who are being unrully, adults are big children its amazing...lol
7. You dont know everything... Look it up, your human and insert humor.

Good luck sweetheart! Im about to give up crushing on stopdog ,

In my best Joey voice... " how you doin?"...

I've just been working on preparing a presentation about giving presentations, which I'll have to, er, present on Tuesday. Lola's got a bunch of good suggestions (I love the pipe cleaners - I may have to start using that! ) Another thing which I try to keep in mind, and try to teach my students as well, is to have the attitude that you are talking about a really interesting subject to an interested audience! If you're assuming that they are there because they want to listen and learn from you, you'll feel more sure of your position, and you'll project that to them as well. I find that works surprisingly well. Good luck!

I'm off to bed now, hoping against hope that my adorable kittens (they were four months old yesterday) will choose some spot other than the top of my legs, under the bedcovers, for their 1am tussle.
