Sorry. Just ignore. I don't know what I expected to find here, but I don't think it's working cuz I just feel emptier.

Thanks to everyone below. You're probably spot on in your responses.

I would take it at fact value; your mind is interesting. It sounds like you have a bit of trouble with self-worth issues, don't think much of yourself, mind, intelligence, abilities, reasons for being in therapy?

You are your mind as well as all the rest of you; you cannot divide out the way you think, categorize, imagine things from "you". If she had said, "that's what makes you so interesting" you would have had to say, "What does?" as "that" and "you" are too general. Because she made one of them more specific, your "mind" you were able to assign the way you were thinking to your uniqueness.

It's a bit similar to, "you have nice large eyes, that's what helps make your face so expressive". You are you is all she was pointing out and, since it's therapy and you all are just talking/using your minds and hearts but not "doing" anything, how you think/express yourself will show up more than something else might. It's not positive or negative really, it just is (in her opinion).

Has your T ever said anything like that to you? What would you think of it?
My prev t/pdoc used to tell me I had a very active imagination, and I would ask, "Is that a professional opinion, a dx, or are you 'just sayin'?!" He never said. Current T tells me all the time, but partly? it's because I NEED the acknowledgement - my FOO completely discounts my intellectual abilities and just sees me as crazy. My mother thinks I just "make stuff up" and my brother says I never worked a day in my life - I was a computer programmer for 30 years, I was in the top 1% of my high school graduating class of 700. So no, you're not a lab rat - but your brain IS a big part of what you bring to therapy. I suck it up, I need more, my brain has no backbone. or heart, or something.

I think that people are absolutely fascinating. I love to get to know someone. To see what makes them tick, how they live their lives.

My T has on occasion said the way I think is interesting.
He is clear that interesting means this helps him decide how to help me.
Example:
Other people may think the same way, or in different ways, and he will adjust his approach accordingly.

And he does not forget to add that we all have unique and interesting minds.
So his use of interesting is not the way I would use the word, I would think interesting as 'weird' (a hint of some of my self esteem) so I was very glad I asked what he meant.
Thanks for this!

I didn't get to read your original post but...My T told me that I was such an "interesting mix between practical and stubborn." I could see where she was coming from and I actually enjoyed the comment. It made me feel like I was actually being heard for once and it told me that she was really paying attention. I think we all have interesting minds in one way or another!

Funny you should say that, I am not studying agriculture but I am studying to become a wildlife biologist and I could end up working with farmers a lot! Haha, thanks for the laugh.

I didn't read your original message either. My t has said things like "I would consider you a deep thinker." At the time I didn't ask what she meant by that. (I've had other people say similar things.) Now that I've been reading a lot about introversion and highly sensitive people, I am tempted to ask her exactly what she meant by that.
