Good morning everyone.
The party went well. I saw some people I know and talked with three people I had never met before. I will have to remember to tell t that. Sconnie actually made small talk and it was not incredibly painful! And I stayed over two hours!

Tonight is the funeral for the woman from our band and then band practice right after. I am going to need the couch (and that massage therapist we added!) when I get home.

I read in a book about having a few questions ready in advance...and it worked. A chatty neighbor say down next to me and all I had to ask was one question and he talked forever

Lola - That's awesome!
Granite - I'll support you in healthy eating. I need to get back on track too. It's easier to regulate my emotions when I am not loading up on carbs - but the dysthymia makes me crave sugar and sweet carbs... I have a big salad and a nectarine for lunch today!

if it is, they borrowed it from the Godfather (the first).
Package for you, Sonny (James Caan).
Sonny: What the eff is this?
Fish (from Barney Miller): It's a message, it means tonight, Clemenza sleeps with the fishes.

I was wondering why nobody mentioned it before, Clemenza on Ramsay looks SO MUCH like the original clemenza! Lose the gun, keep the cannoli! Ah, nothing like a little Godfather trivia to start off your morning now i'm happy
Thanks for this!

I've been reading a few books about introversion and they've melded together in my head. I think it was "Quiet" by Susan Cain or it might have been "The Highly Sensitive Person" by Elaine Aron. It was just a short section of a chapter about how to act like an extrovert when necessary, but it stuck with me.

Thanks. No, it didn't happen and I feel silly for hoping that it would. And I'm getting no work done. None. (yes, I'm officially on holiday this month, which, if I were a proper academic, would mean that I got some actual work done while the students are away.) *crawls under couch*
Thanks for this!

I have found being a proper academic is vastly over-rated. Sorry you did not get to talk to your friend.

I am having avocado, kale, and tomato on fresh oatmeal bread.

mmm, I love a savory breakfast! we (usa) are the only culture (being so new an all) that eats a sweet breakfast, everybody else is more inclined to dinner leftovers. so the plastic machine pizza bagels I chided my coworkers for in the 70's were more "organic" than I realized.

I am not big on sweet either. Sometimes steel cut oats with a banana cooked in, but in general I prefer savory.

I shall be an improper academic, then, and make lots of jokes about sex. That'll make me popular with the students.

Germans eat Nutella on bread for breakfast. And the Dutch put chocolate sprinkles on bread. Weeeeird (sez I, who grew up with oatmeal for breakfast, with a generous dollop of honey on top.)

Chocolate on bread sounds odd - but then I think about chocolate croissants - so maybe it is like that.
I find Nutella to be very sweet. I have put it inside of homemade poptarts.

I woke up today with that same stupid headache. I called the chiropractor right when they opened and he got me in quickly and put my neck back in place. The headache is easing up already, and he fixed the ankle I messed up in Boston. I don't know why I wait to go when things are out of whack. I should just GO at the first sign of trouble (the ankle) and not wait for the problem area to get my whole back and neck out.

Oh, we did go see the play yesterday, despite my headache. It was the King and I, and I cried when the king died. Still having trouble with losing my dad. Any tv show, play or movie that involves sitting there watching someone died gets me going.

Good afternoon. I got a late start today! At work; busy busy.

Everyone have a great day!

You know what? Life is good. Even when it's not (although it is for me right now).

Each day is a gift. Are we delighted with it?

Lola-Congrats on the smaller size! Keep up the good work!
Granite-I will support and join you in healthy eating. I was a size 6 last year-now I'm a 10. Let's work on it together. So much easier when u have a friend to work with.
Wiki-hope you enjoyed your swim. Sounds lovely.
Apt. I am sorry you were not able to speak to your friend. I know how it feels. Hugs to you.
MKAC-I'm glad you got in to see the chiropractor. I'm sorry the play made you sad. Those things stick with us.
Sconnie-sorry about your fellow band member. The couch will be here when you get home. Lots of hugs and thoughts your way.

Hello everyone else.

Well I'm at work-so I better hop to it. These 3 year old are doing a 100 pce puzzle with very little direction from me. I'm impressed.

Just picked a half bushel of beach plums...going to make some jam. I need to get some more apples to make pectin first.

Breakfast: usually a green drink with some sprouted grain toast. If I hit the gym I switch to a whey protein shake with frozen fruit and almond milk. And strong black coffee...that's a given.

Apt: I seriously am not a big fan of proper myself. Is there something in between proper and raunchy that would work better?

MKAC - glad the chiro worked. I have been dealing with upper back pain for a few months and avoiding my chiro. (last time he wanted my heart checked out). I know an adjustment would do me wonders.

Granite: I do black beans, quinoa, mango, scallions and red peppers with a grape seed oil/red wine vinegar dressing. (any spare fresh herbs I have go in it as well as sea salt and black pepper)
