@Chopin99: I can relate to your feeling. This feeing of unreality/fogginess is common with many mental health conditions. I would mention it to your T.

I appreciate the thought, Astridetal, but my T is already aware of my issues and I haven't felt this way in months. I believe this is coming from work stressors, chronic pain, and lack of sleep.

BTW...your Tori Amos quote was the first quote I used on my sig when I joined PC.

It ok Chopin, was it a full moon last night? I made an apt with T at 3, took a cancellation, it was that or beat my work adversary into a pulp.

I'm starting to wonder! I'm glad I have a T appt at 4. It's starting to become a safe place for me. I need a safe place right now. Luckily, all my coworkers have left except one and I see T in two hours. I'm sorry you're feeling "off" too.

stopdog - we have somewhat similar musical tastes. For me, early music in particular is a de-stressor. It's probably what I most enjoy singing as well (though Bach's larger choral works, and Brahms' and Verdi's Requiems are lovely to sing, too.)

chopin - feel better. You too, Lola.

In other news, I'm feeling mildly proud about the fact that I managed not to flip out completely over a situation that arose a few hours ago. And by "didn't flip out" I meant "I felt like ***** for a couple of hours but managed to hide it and talk myself into a non-catastrophic interpretation of events".

Nothing like a good requiem to perk up your day.

(I am kidding - I don't sing but I like listening to them. I played an instrument).

Chopin and LC - try to go to your happy places until you can get to the therapists.

Herbert: "But Father, I just want to sing...."
Father: "Stop that music. No singing..."

<flopping on the couch, exhausted>

I'm just going to curl up and have a snooze. It's been a very long day already.

Chopin and Lola, I hope your T sessions are safe and restorative.

Seriously, there are times I think you're my H in disguise. You like everything he does except the musicals. He can't stand them and neither can I. We'd rather see something explode anyday. Hurrah for action films!

Do you talk in movie quotes a lot? My H does. Anytime the film Aliens is on, he quotes it verbatim along with the actors. He could do a one-man show. I can picture it now:

Aliens on Broadway!
starring
Mr. Chopin as Ripley, Burke, Gorman, Vasquez, Hudson, and Bishop.
With a guest appearance by Chopin as Newt.

I talk in movie quotes, too. Well, movies and TV series. Top quotable is Monty Python; especially the Holy Grail, but a lot of the Flying Circuses as well. Then there's The Princess Bride, where every single line is quotable.
And, um, the 1995 Pride and Prejudice adaptation with Colin Firth and Jennifer Ehle. I know it almost by heart.

It's so bad, he's taught me. There are certain lines of movies, TV shows, and commercials that he says the first part and pauses and I finish it.

Nice to know I'm trainable.

I can quote quite a bit of the first Men in Black and Pulp Fiction.

Who's motorcycle is this?
It's a chopper, baby.
Who's chopper is this?
It's Zed's.
Who's Zed?
Zed's dead, baby. Zed's dead.

I do talk in movie quotes - a lot of monty python,Heathers and Dr. Strangelove. Princess Bride is good too. Tv-wise I am still stuck in the early years of Saturday Night Live. "Jane you ignorant slut" (which is another place where making sure all the players know their lines is so important to having your conversational partner on board rather than insulted or confused).
I also talk in book quotes. Sadly, what I think of as basic parts of the Western Canon known to all but the most illiterate - has been know to fail in practice.

I hear you, and I concur. ("We are the chorus, and we agree. We agree, we agree, we agree." -Bored of the Rings - not exactly Western Canon perhaps )

I've been known to use "Jane, you ignorant slut" and have the other person just stare at me like, "what did you just call me?".

Then I just quote Emily Litella, "Never mind."

Off to T. Ugh.

Looking for a kitten for a friend and there's this animal shelter where a good 1/3 of their photos involve the volunteer throttling the poor cat in the photo. For some reason that is totally cracking me up. I want to caption these photos for them: "Because everyone wants a cat that needs to be choked into submission for a photo!"
Welcome to the Couch! People of PC Psychotherapy (All Welcome Part 6)

Just laughing so hard. It's official. I'm going to hell -- laughing at these poor kittens being choked. hahahahaha

I've done that. Oops.

I don't think a day goes by without a Princess Bride quote coming out of my mouth. There's something applicable to almost any occasion.

granite maybe it'll loosen ya up. it's not like you're drunk, right? I mean I go buzzed on caffeine, same diff I quote from The Godfather movies, but for me, I actually talk (and do) like that. I brought T a cannoli pie last week (from a new Jewish bakery in town!); he was like, only if you let me pay you for it; I was like, it's okay, someday, I may come to you, needing a favor...

Apt, I flip out the same way. I might have to borrow this line and give it to T befcause it describes it perfectly. Maybe it can add some clearity to the mystery of me sitting like a statue at all times.

Lots of Wednesday T appointments this week it seems. I kinda miss Wednesday. I hope everyone's appointment goes well
