We are going on a therapy weekend. Just the two of us in a log cabin. We have drawn up a list of things to do and activities. We intend to do lots of work on lots of issues and I'm going to learn how to cook as she will teach me.

Strange response, but that's ok. It's been through a whole supervision process with my T and her colleagues/peers and agreeed that it would be beneficial.

That's interesting - I've never heard of this kind of therapeutic approach. I'm a little surprised by it, actually. It sounds very much like a dual relationship, at least a temporary one. Those are usually a bad idea for the client.

sorry you feel the response was strange-just not a usual thing for clients to spend time alone with their counselors like that. hope you have fun
Thanks for this!

I probably should have explained at the start that that this has been through a whole raft of people, and been almost a year in the planning. A lot of thought and consideration has gone into this. It probably sounded like we were off on holiday lol. Anyway, I have high hopes. I'm DID and it's all about building relationships and having time/ space to be all that I am.

I hope it goes great My T invited me to come visit here where she's at (far away, dealing with a family emergency) and said I could come for a week, stay there at the hotel, and we could do therapy. I have DID too and this type of stuff with our T is one of the most healing things we do. I hope your weekend goes well.

I don't get this kind of service from my T!

What is your T charging for this time? To be fair to her, I would think around $1000 per day. Covered by insurance?
Thanks for this!

Definitely an interesting approach. I've never heard of a client going away alone with a therapist before.

Hmm. My T at $125/hr x 24 hr/day x 4 days. Yikes.

I hope all is ethical and boundaries are intact. I hope it goes well for you and you get out of it what you need.
Thanks for this!

IT'S OVER 9000!

(Don't worry if you didn't get that joke.)

And, actually, it's EXACTLY $9,000

That's, like... a new CAR.

Why aren't Ts RICH RICH RICH?
Thanks for this!

Kinda sounds like when Annie Sullivan moved Helen Keller out of the main house and into their little cabin together. Also a writers' colony thing? You're relieved of daily life pressures, can immerse yourself in the task at hand. Or like an Outward Bound weekend, do trust exercises and stuff? Social workers used to take high school kids out on trips like that all the time.

Well, most Ts don't starve! They make a good upper-middle-class income.

But don't forget that they often offer big discounts to impoverished patients and sometime take pro bono cases.

OMG that would totally be my dream fantasy - to be alone with T in a log cabin for four days and four nights... I actually shared with her my fantasy to go on a girls' weekend with her - to eat together, shop together, spend hours talking... and I'd love to see her in her pj's, barefoot (she never wears open toe shoes and I want to see her feet!!! ), sleep together... Oh, how sweet is this fantasy!
Too bad it's never gonna come true .
