I didn't mean to sound snotty about the vegan stuff. I totally don't expect others to do it. Truth is, no one is 100 percent vegan really. There are animal products, animal tested products, human slavery products, biproducts, bug products...on and on. No one can possibly get rid of all of it.

I use raw sugar. Or agave nectar. There is vegan white sugar at the health food store, but it's easier to find the raw stuff.

I like raw sugar. I put it on top of creme brulee and on rare occasions in my coffee or tea.

I don't think you were being snotty. I find people's different food choices interesting. I am trying to eliminate more and more processed foods this year.

That's cool sconnie. Processed food really clog your nervous system. It puts toxins in your cells. I wish I could get H to back down on them. I raised my kids on all organic stuff, but my son is a junk food junkie now. A good start is just flooding your system with whole foods, good produce and water. You can actually get sick when you cut it out because your body starts a detoxification process.

Now I have the dumb question.

Do they mark foods vegan like the mark them kosher or gluten free? Or do you have to research what is vegan and what is not? That question just came to my mind.

I was vegetarian for a few years. It was hard.

Well, I've written my text for T. Haven't hit send yet. Really confused about my motivations. Why put myself out there again to someone I currently see as cold? An hour ago, all I wanted was some reassurance that she was still there. Crap

Fix, just sit on it for a little bit. Maybe try to send it in the morning?

Sconnie...hardly anything is labeled vegan. I flip everything over and read the ingredients. There are key things to look for. There is always the "Is it vegan" site, or PETA too. It really takes a while to learn the lingo. I ate honey for the first year because I had no idea it wasn't vegan. (It belongs to the bees, not us) I know..freaky obsessive. But I try.

Just still really distraught over this email thing from yesterday. Was almost feeling sui over it an hour ago. Feel like T saying something might calm the tide, so I can get to our Tuesday appointment w/o obsessing so much. Problem is that the whole issue is her not caring or me not recognizing/it not being enough. An hour ago, I also hated her.

I am a big fan of local foods. I started a local food fair where I work. I am trying to get more and more of my foods locally, but grass-fed or free-range meats are really expensive. Hence I eat a lot of vegetarian meals. We have a vegan caterer come to the food fair. He makes some awesome dishes.

I am sorry you are struggling with this. That is a hard decision. Is there anything you can do to distract yourself for awhile and see if you feel differently in a short while?

Wow...that is very cool. I would have killed for someone to do that. I was vegetarian for years. My daughter is currently, but she eats fish.

Organic is pricey...no doubt. They say to cut down the price, use organic on thin skinned produce and regular on thick skinned stuff. The reasoning is the pesticides don't get thru the skin.

Yeah. Organic, especially around here is really expensive. So I grow a lot of my own stuff and get a subscription to an organic farm. I get a bag of veggies every week and have been preserving what I can't eat. It cuts down on what I have to buy in winter. My splurge is organic milk. Regular milk tastes icky to me.

ugh...fix. It's so hard. I am not sure where you are at, but it's getting late here. If your going to contact, you should do it soon. But please, please, please remember that she may not be able to call right back. If she does COOL, but if not don't feel rejected. can you do that?

The dairy stuff is really important. It tastes so much better too.

Organic is slim pickins here, and local produce is wimpy. To much salt in the air. But we do travel for stuff. I have a decent natural foods store about a half hour away.

Wow...preserving, that's so good. I freeze fruit and veggie pulp. I go thru so much produce though, there is none left at the end of the week.
