Oh I am so happy to hear you have your dog back MKAC.

Just say no to the guilt Lola

Good morning everyone on the couch. It is a dreary day here and I just want to curl up with a book and a cup of tea...sadly I am at work though.

MKAC-so glad your puppy is home. Don't know what my wife and I would do if Ollie went missing overnight.

Ike, if you and your wife are anything like me, the two of you would spend a night of walking around outside all over the place with a flashlight, and then driving around with the hi-beams on and windows down in 30 degree weather, hollaring out the truck window like a total redneck. hahahaha

MKAC - I'm very glad to hear about your dog.

Lola - I would like to know what kind of ghost shows as well. I want to do a scary movie / t.v. marathon at some point before Halloween. Tomorrow or Friday I think I will be going to a haunted forest in the area. I love being scared.

Yes and no. I get triggered when anyone (and you wouldn't know the circumstances there) downplays the difficulty of the job. I consider myself a reasonably intelligent person, and I couldn't do that job. It's more difficult than anyone thinks. You have to be able to super multi-task and I can only do 1-2 things at a time.

Don't take it personally. It wasn't you.

If I am in the right mood I enjoy a scary movie marathon but I have to be in the right mood. Sometimes I get too spooked and end up sleeping(or not) with the lights on. LOL

Hey all... ((jersey)) dig the name!

MKAC - I'd have balled all the way thru it myself. Glad she's home, I hope you can get a snuggling nap in.

Lola...almost time for my Halloween marathon...just the ones with JLC in them...you know my fascination with her...

So, I made a big batch of cider donuts this morning. They are healthy in that they are pure cider, whole wheat, maple sugar and fried in my special oil blend. Not low in calories though!

Ooh those cider donuts sound yummy.

I saw a recipe for pumpkin and black bean soup which I may make this weekend.
Does anyone know if a recipe calls for poblano peppers and they tell you to roast them over an open flame if there is a good alternative to that?

Both scary books and movies can make me sleep with the light on.
Thanks for this!

I've stuck them on a broiler pan and broiled them on each side. Mostly though, I do just stick them on a fork and roast them on the gas stove top.

Vegetarian times (online) has a great black bean soup recipe with sweet potato and mango (yes mango - I use frozen usually -and it is delicious) that I add in dried chili ancho and poblano chilies and a can of rotel tomatoes. I would think you could use pumpkin instead of the sweet potato.
Thanks for this!

stopdog...YUM.

I am making a broccoli cheddar soup for the fam tonight. We bought a boatload of fresh cheddar in VT. I'll make a side pot with vegan (sigh) cheese for me. (little evil secret...I tried a piece of real dairy cheddar in VT, crap that was good). I am going to bake some beer bread to go along with it.

I need a venting place for a moment...maybe some of you can relate to this. One of the things about therapy that is most painful is when I hit issues that bring up stuff that leave me feeling scared or lost, but are things that I feel really embarrassed about being scared of because it just seems so awkward and childlike. It's like I should have learned how to deal with these feelings years ago and I get really mad at myself for being inept. I hope it makes sense what I mean without details, I just don't want to turn this into something even longer.

So then when I have to talk about them with my T and he sees how panicked and unsure I am, I feel like such a huge stupid baby, like it's absolutely ridiculous that I have to be reassured and soothed about something that an adult should have no worries about. My therapist would never ever do this but sometimes I imagine he wants to shout at me "Are you kidding, you don't understand this? What is wrong with you?"

And then I just feel frustrated, and sad, that things that have happened and the way people in my life have been were so...lacking, inadequate, that I have to be so scared and uncertain. I just want to okay, be somewhat socially normal, an emotionally healthy person already.

Thank you for reading if you have. Fingers crossed that my appointment later goes okay.

That's exactly what we would do. And I think to be a total redneck you have to throw your beer bottles at road signs when you drive around with the windows down.

I know you said it wasn't me-but now that I can see how difficult it is- I will be more mindful of that in the future should you need to vent again. I guess I was just interested in that old guys motives as I can't wrap my brain around the "politics" of that kind of stuff due to the nature of my own work environment. Stuff like that doesn't come up. Hugs hugs hugs.

Just reading back a bit...MKAC I'm so glad you got your dog back!

Wiki that soup sounds so good. I absolutely love cheddar cheese--and broccoli for that matter. Stupid question but is there a vegan cheese that really tastes close to the real stuff? I've heard a lot of vegans say that most substitutes are pretty nasty.

Sounds like a really fun day, Lola. Ghost shows are fascinating to me; I'm not really sure if I believe in all of that but I still like watching paranormal stuff. Funny how I have such anxiety but scary movies and TV shows don't bother me in the slightest. I guess I figure real life leaves me scared enough, lol.

Have to run, but I hope everyone has a good day. Good luck to everyone else who has therapy today, too.
