Daiya and Follow Your Heart both are good. Daiya makes a great grilled cheese or pizza. There is another kind I like as well, but I can't remember the name right now.

yea, gross. Being vegan I don't usually try to replicate animal flavors. I try to embrace real whole foods (edamane rather than tofurkey). I honestly don't like fake chicken or beef, I hate seitan too. I do miss dairy a lot though.

(daiya isn't bad...it isn't cheese, but it doesn't taste bad)

Wikid, would you eat cheese if you knew the cows were well treated? My husband is vegetarian, and our agreement is that we will buy dairy products and eggs from humane producers. For instance, my great-uncle was a producer for Roberts Dairy here in the midwest. He said the rules for how the cattle were treated were pretty strict -- out on pasture most of the day. No longer than X amount of time in milking stalls, etc.
Thanks for this!

I don't know, MKAC. I tried the cheese in VT because I was so impressed with the farm. But no matter how humane...cows have to keep being impregnated to give milk. They aren't impregnated naturally. (that's a big one for me). The calves are often killed for veal (if they're male).

So I guess my idea of humane kind of differs from others. I do respect honest hard working farmers though...big time. (H was raised on a dairy farm).

Wiki...you'd be proud of me. At lunch, I ate tofu. First time I've ever eaten it where it wasn't rubbery.

Me too Lola. I like my cheese and ice cream
But I do have lots of respect for those who are able to go vegan.

I don't want to be gross...but I guess the way i see it is, I wouldn't go get the nursing mother down the street so I could make something yummy for myself. That's her milk, for her baby. It doesn't belong to me. Does that make sense?

(it's kind of like that)
((but I don't think badly of people who eat cheese))

Ah, my great-uncle had a bull who natural covers the cows, and then switches out bulls with a neighbor every couple of years. The heifers get sold to other dairies or put back into the herd. The bull calves have it rough though. Sold as bull prospects or neutered and sold for slaughter, but not veal.
Thanks for this!

LC - I did it for 7 weeks. I even sent the dogs away. Not fun.

I can be vegetarian easily and mostly am, but I can't abide seitan at all or wheat grass without something mixed in - too much like licking a putting green.

Don't take it personally. It wasn't you.
Some people can multi-task, some people not. That's just the way it is.
I'm not a natural multi-tasker myself.

One of the things about therapy that is most painful is when I hit issues that bring up stuff that leave me feeling scared or lost, but are things that I feel really embarrassed about being scared of because it just seems so awkward and childlike. It's like I should have learned how to deal with these feelings years ago and I get really mad at myself for being inept. I hope it makes sense what I mean without details, I just don't want to turn this into something even longer.

So then when I have to talk about them with my T and he sees how panicked and unsure I am, I feel like such a huge stupid baby, like it's absolutely ridiculous that I have to be reassured and soothed about something that an adult should have no worries about. My therapist would never ever do this but sometimes I imagine he wants to shout at me "Are you kidding, you don't understand this? What is wrong with you?"

And then I just feel frustrated, and sad, that things that have happened and the way people in my life have been were so...lacking, inadequate, that I have to be so scared and uncertain. I just want to okay, be somewhat socially normal, an emotionally healthy person already.

Thank you for reading if you have. Fingers crossed that my appointment later goes okay.
I used to feel like that. But now I accept that the child is part of me.

What hurts is that other people expect me to be an adult all the time.

I already eat raw spinach and carrots. I had some nice steamed veggies with lunch (carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, celery, sugar snap peas)as well as a lemongrass chicken sushi roll.

It was all good, but now I want to go to sleep!!!

H and I went out for lunch and had tofu family style. Love that stuff! I ordered it once at a restaurant with a friend, and then they didn't bring me the first course of soup. I asked about it and they told me the soup was not vegetarian. I was like, SO? They were perplexed and I was perplexed. Turned out, they had never had a non-vegetarian order tofu just because it's delicious. How weird is that?
Thanks for this!

This made me literally lol; which made my boss ask me, "What's so funny?" He wants to know how you know what a putting green tastes like and have you ever actually licked one.
