At first I didn't realize that you were responding to Jersey and I thought that we could get new families. I wanted to sign up right away.

I feel like between me getting spit in last week in front of the teacher then their inconsolable crying today-it's like what do these teachers think of me.

Well you are better then me, I would have been all , " I'm sorry your mom lied to you and said she would come and didn't...there there...." Honestly, as a teacher, I wouldn't think that highly of anyone with a nanny...I would wonder why they don't raise the children they have? I'm sure they know its not reflective of you.

As their teachers, they've probably been exposed to that side of the kids... honestly, I think a lot of people see school as free day care for their kids, and I'm sure they (the teachers) empathize with you more than you think.

I call crazy Aunt, twice removed, who wears large obnoxious hats and never matches. The one who buys weird presents and doesn't always make sense, but you like her because she's crazy in a good way.

Thanks Lola and Sally

This isn't public school though. This is a private preschool of the Montessori kind. The kids go from 9-12 Monday to Friday and its 600 bucks a week to send them there. It's all about "keeping up with the Jones's"

I wonder if this means the parents are more obnoxious with the teachers, or less...

Either way, I'm glad you have an interview lined up!

If I saw some kids crying so inconsolably, and so unable to enjoy their time out with their playmates because their mom forgot their field trip day... I wouldn't be thinking about the nanny at all. I'd never expect a nanny to be able to single-handedly win over a set of kids without the parents being part of it. It's the parents that model behavior for their kids, including how they treat their nanny. If I saw a kid spit on his nanny, I'd also be looking at the parents. I wouldn't have DARED to spit on any of my babysitters, or my daycare providers, because that was not tolerated from my parents.

I also know that for some kids it can be really awful if their parent forgets something. I'd be wondering more why the kids find it so tough to cope with, even among distractions like a field trip and their playmates, than why the nanny can't somehow compensate for EVERYTHING ELSE that is going on at home. I definitely wouldn't be thinking there was some issue with the nanny, I'd just feel bad that she got thrown into that situation.

So.... Today is not going smoothly at all. Our email was down all day so I missed the email from the guest speaker for tonight.

I got to the venue and they informed me that the back of the dining area would be open to the public. W T F!!!!!!!! We've never shared space for this event. We have an auction and a guest speaker and there are no dividers in the space. Just one giant room. I was seething. But, decided to take the high road and said we would work around it. And to myself said...and we will never use your venue again. They got a new events person who obvisouly didn't read last year's notes or bother to tell us in advance. Had I known, I would have pulled our event immediately and found a different location.

mmmmm... snacky cakes sound good right about now.

He already knows I am pissed. But I used the words "very disappointed" and "we should have been told in advance." He's not the owner, but several of our board members and attendees know the owners. I am sure word will spread quite easily. I also told him I would letting all our guests know when they arrived that there was open dining so they did not sit in the dining tables as they were used to being able to use the entire room.

However, the look on his face when I said "our guest speaker" was pricesless. He suddenly realized the diners would have to listen to our presenter. HA!
