I took a small step toward health even if I'll never be vegan. The other night, I craved carrots. So I bought some yesterday. My body is usually telling me something when it craves healthy food. I try to feed it healthy ASAP.

When I was on a low carb diet, I noticed how much more expensive it was to eat as a vegetarian...but I realize, though, that it was all about choices. I like my veggies fresh - not frozen or canned...I try to get whatever is on sale that particular week that I'm shopping. I don't care for tofu or beans....and ended up with lots of Morningstar Farms type products (pretty much just the burgers, maybe veggie sausage).

Problem with fresh veggies, though, is that I'll get bogged down with either migraines, life or depression - and they end up rotting in the fridge before I get around to cooking them.

I had some extra stamina today when getting groceries, so I made a commitment to myself that I would meal-plan so that the food I bought doesn't get wasted.

Even then, I only got asparagus, peppers, zucchini and salad.

I calculated my meals for today - and it came to $4.60 (and $2 of it was asparagus)...

Wish I could help Sila, but I'm not sure. I have major food weight and body image issues so I would just totally ignore me when I spew about food and what I eat or don't eat. There are a lot of healthy eaters on the couch though who may be able to give you an alternative.

I generally don't eat breakfast. When I'm feel ambitious, I make hashbrowns. Just the act of shredding the potatoes is soothing to me.

OK, one more link and I'm done grossing everyone out for the evening. Don't look if you're squemish. Banner sausage, my dad used to eat it. Thankfully, my parents never made us eat it.

http://davescupboard.blogspot.com/20...r-sausage.html

Here are the ingredients:
Banner Sausage: cereal added: with natural juices.
Ingredients: beef tripe, pork stomachs, partially
defatted beef fatty tissue, beef heart meat, wheat
flour, water, salt. Less than 2 percent: vinegar,
natural flavorings, sodium nitrite.

Yum, Yum.
