Nite all. I'll leave you with this Jerry Clower bit. More redneck humor. If you've never had boiled okra, it may be lost on you.

I am so hungry for dumplings now! I haven't made them in ages. I used to make them in college and smother them in brown sauce. But that was when I was swimming 4 or 5 miles a week.

Hi people. Sunday morning, second in Advent. I have put up one Advent star, and that's the extent of my decorations. Maybe I'll try to get an Adventy tablecloth on before we have breakfast. We can't have an Advent candleholder (the kind where you light one candle every Sunday) because the kittens would be all over it the moment our backs were turned. We've decided that we won't have a Christmas tree either, this year - we'd wake up in the middle of the night from the crash when the kittens had tried to climb it! Maybe we'll put something up on the terrace instead.

I'm sorry to hear that many of you are struggling now. (((RR))), (((mkac))), (((mu_e))). And I worry about wikid.

I've had a couple of pretty awful weeks, but am doing considerably better now. Which possibly means that I'll post more here, too
Thanks for this!

Nice! Pretty much all Swedish kids do this: procession with candles, wearing white gowns, the boys usually wearing pointy hats with stars, and the procession is led by the Lucia, who wears a wreath of candles. In nursery/kindergarten, everybody who wants (girls and boys) get to be Lucia, and there are also gingerbreadmen and Santas. And all the candles are electrical, of course. Later in life, it's something of a beauty contest to be chosen Lucia for the school or the village or whatever... but if you are Lucia, you have to pick candlewax from your hair for a week after so it's a doubtful honour! (I was never a candidate, and I can't remember ever wanting to be Lucia either.)

I tried on my Lucia gown yesterday. Sheesh, I'm middle-aged. But my choir does a yearly Lucia concert with the girls' choir, and so we have to dress up for it.
