Welcome to the couch. This thread moves fast, so if we don't hear you, just yell a little lounder. Yelling "cool whip" may help.

Anyone is welcome to post.

Also...do not contact your T while intoxicated.
Thanks for this!

Thanks for the new couch, Squirrel. I will not be sitting on that couch, however.

Well...it's official...I am "cheap".

I just went back to the dollar store (did not buy anything) to scout out what sort of stuff they have now that they used to not have. Why did I do this? So I could see if it would be possible to Christmas gift shop there this Christmas. I don't really like my family, so it feels disgusting for me to spend my money on them; but, they would get p i s s ed off if I did not get them something. This way I can get them something without spending too much and if they question the cost, I will just say that money was tight this year.

Am I a horrible person for this? I can't believe I am already thinking about Christmas...it's barely after Halloween...but I guess it is never too early to start.

I love that feeling = like I am still rocking after I go sailing or canoeing. It helps put me to sleep (and I sleep so badly anything that helps rock me to sleep is great. I actually have considered an inside hammock in order to rock to sleep. Or a house boat)

Squirrel-you did the right thing!

Have you considered volunteering at a shelter to get your "pet fix"?

I am thinking about doing this because I want a dog, but I'm not so sure I can handle it entirely so I'm holding off.
Thanks for this!

I would fall in love with the kitties at the shelter and probably get upset that I couldn't have them. Plus...all the shelters around here only give a cat 30 days to be adopted before they euthanize them because of overpopulation right now. I couldn't deal with playing with a kitty only to go the next day and find out they were put down. That would highly upset me.

At least the rescue group that took my cats keeps them in foster care until they can find a suitabe home for them (they are really picky, so they really look into who they are giving the cats to). Lilly is a spoiled only kitty now (she found a home). Whiskers is still in foster care, but his foster mommy is thinking about keeping him forever.

Squirrel-
Some places have open adoption events that aren't always held at the shelter. These seem much "happier" events than the average day at the shelter. Maybe those events would suit you better because the focus is on finding the kitties a home?
Thanks for this!

I won't be having the watermelon, lime, and basil one ever again. My favorite so far has been the grape, blueberry, and mint juice. I could drink that all day.

Hi couch. Just got back from running around since 9am this morning. First to the DMV...then to Toys R Us and Target, then to the mall, then to get an early dinner, then to Walmart(ewww) and now finally home. Tomorrow I still have to go Shop-rite, Big Lots and Petsmart. I just ran out of steam today. And there was Jerseys Saturday.

Trigger warning for discussion of animal death. Seriously distressing for me, so if you're sensitive, PLEASE don't read.

Incredibly traumatic evening. I went out to let my elderly horse out and take care of the ducks, and found the tamest and friendliest of the ducks dead. I think it must be a weasel based on the remains. It was truly horrible and shocking. She was only eight months old -- full grown for a duck, but still very young. She was the only one of the group that I could hand feed and pet. She would follow me around all over the place. I totally lost it when I found what was left of her body and started shaking and ran back inside making weird little half shrieks and shaking really hard. I feel horrible that I did not have the self control to break the news gently to my daughter and husband. I just completely lost control. Spent a while sobbing and then went and wrapped her up and moved her to the bed of my truck with some weird notion of keeping her "safe" until I could bury her.
