Hi, everyone. I haven't been posting lately (trying to stay productive and not veg out in the interwebs as much). Something happened in my session yesterday and I'm curious about ya'lls opinions.

My therapist said she'd had a couple of prospective clients contact her about whether she had any openings, and they referenced a glowing review they'd read on the net. She said she has tried to find the review and she hasn't had any luck (yet it's on the first website that comes up when I google her name...don't know if this is just what "my" google" turns up, though). She asked if I knew anything about it.

I told her that I had written a positive review for her, but it was just on one website and it was so long ago that I couldn't remember which one it was. She said she knew it was me (with a big exclamation point) and she said she wished she could find it. I wondered (but didn't say anything) whether I should pull up the website for her and send her the link.

After session, as I was digesting through everything, it occurred to me that the whole thing was kinda strange. And even though the review is 100% glowing, I don't want her to find it. I don't know why, though. I do make mention of her age, but in a positive way. I guess I just like being anonymous?

I'm also confused about why she's had multiple people reference a review that I posted over a year ago. There were negative reviews on that same website, so why would they just glom onto the only positive one?

I'm not bothered, per se. Just kinda weirded out, I guess. Would you be weirded out too, or am I making a mountain out of a molehill (again)?

Maybe your review stands out because it's so literate in comparison. And who doesn't want to read something positive about themselves that has resulted in new business? She just wants to know what she's doing right. But I'm surprised she can't find it by herself.
Thanks for this!

I am interested in hearing more about this. I would be weirded out too, but I am not sure why.

I agree with Hankster. She was probably flattered because Drs. get so few positive remarks. People only like to write in to complain.
She is human like th rest of us.

I don't know that I'd be weirded out... I guess I'd expect that if I wrote a review for my T, she might come to know about it at some stage. I'm pretty sure she would 'recognise' that it was me. I once wrote a review for my driving instructor - not quite the same, I know - and she was delighted. I guess I was a little nervous as to how she'd read it, though, so I maybe see your point.

It may have been a year ago, but some info sticks around on teh interwebs for a long time. It's totally possible it's your review she's talking about. I would send her the link - she did seem to be hinting pretty heavily at wanting to read it! What concerns you about her reading it?

I thought about writing a review for my T because he has NONE anywhere and very little internet presence at all. However, I felt queasy every time I thought about doing: felt too exposing to do that. Also, he said that he gets enough business from word of mouth to keep him at a full case load, so he doesn't see the need for an internet presence.

What concerns you about her reading it?
I know this will sound strange, but I think I'm afraid she will think it's unnatural. My "writing" voice is not anything like my "speaking" voice. I have blunt affect. But my review has exclamation marks in it! So I guess I'm afraid that she will think I'm being fake. Fake when I'm in session or fake when I write. I don't want her to think I am an inauthentic person.

I also don't want her to think I like her so much. I know that sounds very juvenile! I probably wrote that review after she'd done something really nice for me and I was feeling especially grateful. She knows that I like her a lot, but I guess I don't want her to know that I like her so much that I'd write a review for her.

Finally, I don't want her to read the other reviews. But that's just dumb since I'm pretty sure she has thick enough skin to handle it.

It has been helpful for me to lay out my concerns. Thanks, just some girl.
