I think our crazy, dangerous dog that has bitten me several times, and who my dad absolutely adored and begged me not to put to sleep is dying. She's lost a lot of weight this week and didn't want to go on her walk and was not all that interested in the soup bones I get her. And my beta is sick also. I know it's a dog I don't particularly like and just a fish but I keep weeping nonetheless. Maybe it's just the proximity in time to the anniversary of my father in law's death and my other dog's death last year. This ancient dog that we adopted when the kids were tiny died last year on Valentine's day. Or maybe it's just thinkin about how crazy my dad was about this dog and how much she adores him also. In any event, I feel like an idiot crying as much as I have today.

MKAC - it is sad even when they are not the favorite pet. And your father in law has been very present in your memory recently. I hope you can be kind to yourself while grieving.

I'm not sure I want to know what is going on in my son's room right now. There's only 2 kids in there (that I know of) but it sounds like a barroom brawl. I wonder if he took the screen out of the window again and they're climbing in that way. Ah teenagers. Wish me luck, I'm goin' in!

MKAC, it makes all the sense in the world that you're feeling sad. I'm sorry.

I wanted to play bagpipes when I was younger, but my mother does not care for them...so... no dice. But I do love the sound of bagpipes starting up. All that discord and suddenly you have a tune. Hmm... reminds me of my therapy some days.

And then you always have Darth Vader playing the bagpipes while riding a unicycle:

ETA: Oooppss. This was NOT in response to the awesome video Ike posted. I was responding to SD about the bagpipes.

ike spamming the couch. Speaking of songs that make me cry, Not really, I'm all macho and ****, I'm pretty sure I have posted this song before on the couch, this is a different version that I just came across today. Steve Earle wrote this song about his mentor, Townes Van Zandt, who is one of the great song writers of all time(IMO)

I really am spamming the couch. Where is everyone? I recently discovered Natalie Merchant. Please disregard if you are so inclined. Natalie doing a Pearl Jam cover.

Mkac I used to fish-sit a coworker's betta fish, whenever she took a day off, or if I came in on the weekend, I would bring him to my desk. I swear he knew me. His favorite song was "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."
