I saw this quote this morning and it illustrates even more how much horse training is like therapy. "On a green horse, one that's kind of troubled, I might let them cuddle up to me because it's not a disrespect, they're looking for some support and comfort. But then gradually I know part of the process is that I put him back on the end of the led rope and say, see if you can stay out there and still feel my comfort from out there. But I won't ask him to stay for long. I work my way toward everything I get in small increments, a little bit at a time." - Buck Brannaman, Building Confidence Disc 5, 7 Clinics with Buck Brannaman

My T and I use these kind of examples when he is explaining things about therapy to me. Well, he explains about therapy and then I tell him how it's like training a horse. Helps me to understand and for some reason, he loves to hear about horse training.
Thanks for this!

CE- good luck with the therapist.
There may be a middle ground where you could try taking a break.
I personally like quitting and if I change my mind, I go back. I don't feel bad about that. It gives me space to make sure it is my choice. Now I usually just take a week or two off to think about it and go back.
I have never quit the second one I see. And only taken one break from her.
The first one it happens every few weeks.

CE - IF the therapist "sweet talks" you - what does that get you? Is that proof of her love for you? I admit, the sweet talk would send me so far in the other direction, it is hard for me to imagine. I need the therapist to say okay and wait for me to decide with no pressure from them. Plus I think it is bound to fail. I think you will see the sweet talk as one thing but the therapist may see it as another. I don't think the therapist is never going to love you enough. I don't think she can as in I don't think it is possible. I hope it works out for you.
Thanks for this!

Wow mkac, I am more horselike then I care to be!

Is it bad that I want a chia-tini already? Where is it past noon? because I am going there.

I love getting my hair done! I love my stylist! I just hate the mirror, but she always turns me away from it until I am done. I still visit her even though I am bald...I can't wait to get my hair inked again.

Mkac..there is an equestrian t near me...I would love to try that at some point. Maybe I should just hire a horse trainer? Though I am more like a mule I think.

Stopdog - I also enjoyed the article. I already know that I the one that's expected to look after my Mom as she gets older. Living up to those expectations will be difficult.

I need to start getting ready. I have my normal t appointment in a little over an hour, and then an hour after that I have a second appointment with the head of the group I think I'm joining. I'm worried she may ask me certain questions again, and I'm starting to panic a bit.

Good morning to all and I hope you all have a good day. (Has MUE been on lately?)

I think MUE has been out of pocket for a few days. Maybe she is resting, I know she has been and will continue to be busy for awhile.

thanks lola i am hiding and avoiding the fact but am ok . i am going soon to get my hair done. i'm kind of worried about what T thinks of me and at the same time kind of confused about what my expectations of her are .i want to ask her what her expectations of me are but not sure i will and also not sure she will answer either. i don't know if she can answer it right .i think she knows that and may not try. i don't know but i am going to try.

Could somebody explain to me exactly what this thread is about, or how to "play the game?" I would really like to know because it looks like such fun.

Sincerely,

I changed it for you. I do relate to Janis and that is why she was my avatar....she died before I was born. Maybe I'm her reincarnate and this time around I'm gonna live a long happy life.
