In the half dark I almost picked up the custard. I wonder if warm custard and honey works?

Yea, she'd love that. Then I'd have to tell her about the memories of dad bringing his lovers and their kids to our beach house, where they would sleep in my bed and play with my stuff and leave dirty clothes and beach sand on the floor.

Ick. There is probably a session there somewhere. Drat.

I agree with all of those that think SD would be a good therapist.

Chopin, in order to be a people person you'd have to be extremely mellow and laid back. Nothing could frazzle you. Some people are born that way. Not us though. lol.

Ack. What would do with all of those clients who wanted hugs, to hold my hand, to talk about feelings? The horror.
Perhaps I could specialize in therapist to the monosyllabic detached avoidant people only.
Thanks for this!

Yes I do ..... but she couldn't have me as a patient, as I would need to hug her and take her rejection personally.

See that would be the great part about being a therapist - I would simply dismiss your hurt by shouting "Boundaries"

Now I am scratching my head wondering if I am a "detached avoidant person".

Can you be avoidant with the world while being all huggy and lovey with your kids, your dogs, and babies?

I consider myself an introvert. After I am with lots of other people (work, for example), I need time alone. What occurred at the grocery store yesterday was an anomaly.

Damn straight. SD...you need to go back to school.

Several "people" people I know are not mellow or laid back.

I once asked my boss who in management in this company has good people skills. My boss said no one. He considered his own to be "decent". I'm here 6-10 hours a day. Argh.

Apparently those with people skills do not work in mental/behavioral health...lol!!

Introverted, not avoidant.

Sounds familiar to me. First, I think you're my husband, now I think you're my T.

Um, HELL no. I'd hire you as my attorney, but not my T.

Other than that, I'd probably be your best client.

People-people are over-rated. My dad was a people person. He was amazing with his staff and the community. Everyone loved him, every woman slept with him. He was brutal at home though. I'd rather be decent with people and incredible at home. I think my kids have appreciated that too.
