MKAC, I love your drawing. It's lovely.

You guys are on a roll today! I'm glad no one's in my office because I'd have to explain my guffawing.

I saw T this morning. We talked a little about my sister (who is still inpatient and receiving ECT) and how he feels that giving her anything other than normal amounts of attention would reinforce her attempt as a successful way to get attention. I told him how her church has put together a committee to help her get her finances and the rest of her life sorted out, which of course is about the ultimate in reinforcement. They've called the committee "Team <sister's name>." T's first response was "Are they getting t-shirts made?" That's why I love T.

Good afternoon all.. Short day for me today, our daycare provider had an appointment she had to go to with her son. So, we are all home hanging out, waiting to leave again so H and I can go see MC. UGH!.

The boy is home. He got his hours cut, so he's home during the afternoons. I told him I missed his sister and he needed to snuggle with me. He said, "no freaking way". lol. I love my boy.

ECT - electroconvulsive therapy. Shock treatment in lay terms.
For some people, they really like it (according to my clients) because it can have fewer side effects than the drugs.

They have gotten better at it. Seriously some people really like how it helps them. I get appointed to cases where the medical guys want to do it to people and the clients often are okay with it.

GOOD LUCK HEALED! You can do it.

Lola...go home and sleep after T.

I'm going to nap. I have the kid at 3 and I have been up since 3. And the kid is 3. That's three threes, I must be super holy or something.

ECT: yea, i tried it. Did a bunch of sessions, I was desperate. It did work for depression, it was horrid though. I still freak when I think that I was so low I let them do that to me. I yell at H all the time "WHY DID YOU LET ME DO THAT!". I have flashbacks. errrg. Never again.

I get clients who feel like this too. And I try to do my best to stop it in those cases.

ECT = Electroconvulsive Therapy

They use general anesthesia and a muscle paralytic, so the electrical current doesn't actually cause seizures. The most common side effect is short-term memory loss.

I wish the people at subway were better at their jobs because then I would have spinach on my sandwich.

I had to double check what that word meant, but do you want to talk about it? Was the post towards you or someone else?

This is a lazy response, but perhaps best in the long run.
It is firm, clear and consistent. Good boundaries. My only complaint is that it could be pitched a little warmer.

It is better than ignoring you, and better than encouraging you to expect meaningful replies every time. (No T can keep that up forever.)

My T used to send emails like this, and I didn't like them. But I got used to them in the end and I accepted the wisdom.

Here's my "ideal" T reply.

You raise some interesting points, Fix, but they are too important to discuss by email. I look forward to talking about them in our next session!
