There's a Rate the Therapist page onsite...you might find what you're looking for there.

Where in what country are you looking?

Why do you need to know?

Are you doing research?

Hi Sarah,

I'm not trying to accuse you, please do not take this post that way. I have read a lot of posts that you have written, and the way the posts are written makes me think that you are using this website to do some kind of research. In one post you were trying to get people to tell personal stories. In this post you are want names of doctors and therapists as well as how many we each have seen. That sends a red flag up for me.

I speak for myself when I say that I will not answer posts like this because I do not want to be a part of any research project. It really does not matter how many doctors or therapists I have seen, and their names certainly do not matter.

If you are looking for a good therapist or doctor for yourself, I'd suggest you check your local yellow pages, or do a google search on the internet. I'm sorry I cannot help you anymore on this issue. I hope you find what you are looking for.

If you really are not doing research, and I'm out of line, I apologize.

Take Care,
Angel

It's also hugely against the written rules of this community to engage in research here. Most of us find it offensive.

Hi,
I am truly sorry guys but I was not doing research. I am very curious and did not see the rate the therapist at first and wanted to know if anybody here had a bad experience with a therapist or doctor where I am. Also the stories many people had been posting them and I just wondered. But again I am sorry for this Coincidence and I will leave if you would like., because I got a yahoo Answers account almost to level 5 and plenty more! But really I am just another human out there with mental illness. Please email me or PM me and let me know of any other problems you may have with this. No research was done or at all though of even doing. I came to this site after seeing many others and liked it, so I joined.

No I am sorry but I meant that I have signed on to other sites if you disliked my being here. Also the doctors I have seen at least 15 and wondered if anyone saw the same ones. Or if anyone saw a doctor in the same area that was real bad so I would know not to try there.

Lets see -
1. Pat G
2. thresa,
3, SKR,
4. LL,
5. patty,
6. DR K,
6. Mary B.
7. Joan,
8 Susan,
9. Laura R,
10. Dr. T,
11 Matt G,
12. Laurene
13. barbara
14. X (don't remember her name but she had fantastically long hair. LOL)
15. Dr Al whatever
16. Helen MC
17 Ann MG
18 Pat S
19. Dr. Who.. he always asked me "wait a minute Who what?" he was really into the conversation LOL
20. Erin G

then of course there was Dr. Steve M who SKR and I saw together for possible update DID testing if my lawyer had allowed it.

Dr. E who has done two out of three of my last comprehensive psycvological evaluations.

and Dr. S who did my last comprehensive psychological evaluatiom.

How were they?

A majority of them were fantastic therapy professionals. So why so many?

For some I was in the frame of mind of ok fix me but I don't want to do the work you are the profeesional so you do it and leave me out of it.

for others they hospitalized me and I could not get past that fear of them doing it again. They did the right thing based on what I was able to tell them but I just could not at the time look past they did this so they will do it again thinking.

Others some got fired, some went on vacation and in the process decided to work in the area where they had taken the vacation, some due to government cut backs were laid off, and a few recognized I was DID and they were not capable of doing the long term therapy required for treatment of DID so I was transferred to others that did therapy work for and or with Dissociatives. and a few went through work indued burn out.

My favorites of the bunch - Pat G, Patty R, Joan, Laura R, SKR ands LL..

Pat G was my first since I had no preconcieved ideas of what therapy was I was able to go into the sessions open minded and learned alot. Sometimes our sessions was just the two of us sitting quiet on her couch or in the pillow room, other times she was teaching me about relaxation and imagry and how to use it to ease muscle pain and calm my racing thoughts and audio memories. and still others was talking about my flashbacks and panic attacks.

Laura, Joan and SKR and I remained friends after therapy time was over.

Laura and Joan worked for a rape crisis center.

Joans and my time together focused on memory recall work for a nightmare and helping me with services and so on after attacks from my abusers, She also started a sup;ort group for her woment clients and I participated in that and one of the members of that group and I remain friends and in contact from time to time. She also recognized my recent involuntary commitment did more harm then good because it was sprung on me by Helen complete with police escort and body search at the ER. So when she saw me going down again she gave me the chance to go in volluntarily so that I could have my own clothes, personal items and possibly no body search. Our time ended with an accusation from a co worker because he didn't like her personal and privatre life choices that had nothing to do with her work. She was fired and she took him and the agency to court and won. She was the first person who recognized that I may be MPD (old term for DID) and asked for testing.

Laura and I started out as friends. she was one of Joans co workers at the crisis center. But after Joan was fired and Erin (joans replacement) decided to start a rape support-therapy group and allowed someone that both Erin and Laura as professionals knew was a "rape victim want to be" and not a true rape survivor into the group. when the group started there ended up being Erin, Laura, Me and this rape victim want to be. thats it and no work was getting done because the want to be could not discuss what happened to her or any problems related to being raped so instead she focused on her problems at college, with her brother, friends and so on anything but being raped, the emotions associated with it or after effects of it. Finally I was to explosion level and said thats it this group is supposed to be helping each other through the after effects and so on and the next meeting I let loose. After the meeting and the other person had left I caught Erin and Laura in a conversation having a debate. Laura saying "we have to tell her' and Erin saying "no we can't everything will work out" I confronted both Laura and Erin and said if it has to do with me and my being in this group I have a right to know. Thats when Laura told me that the other member had never been raped. That is why she talks about other things. then Erin had the stupidity of saying - now you know and now its time to lock up see you at the next group meeting. I told her no. I was looking for groups that would help me not my helping others to act like they had been raped when they hadnt. and told her I would not be seeing her any more not for group or individual. She used me to make a point with a rape victim want to be and that was wrong. If she had asked me first I problably would have said yes but you don't pair a want to be with an actual victim in therapy run groups. So then because I had no therapist Laura offered to be a back up for me until I found another therapist. After I found Patty R. Laura and I went back to being friends.

and LL is my present therapist. and my thoughts on her---I started out totally hating her and now Im glad she's there for me.

As for where I saw all these people they are in many different states here in the USA. We cant tell you if we saw any in your area because you have not disclosed where you are.

Also it is not safe for people to tell personal information such as locations because of on line preditors so you most likely will not find anyone here that will tell you specifics of personal information such as where we are and where those specialists are.

It you are looking into seeing professionals in your area - welll one o=persons fantastic therapist is another persons flop of a therapist because they have different needs and ideas of what types of therapists they want and need.

Your best bet is to open the phone book and start calling around and scheduling concult appointments so that you can meet some professionals and ask them questions and based on that choose the best one for you.

There is also state certification and licensing boards for all therapy professionals in all USA states. Calling your state board will get you information on specific therapy professionals in your area and if they have any diciplinary reports on that professional.

I have seen one psychologist, and two Licensed Clinical Social Workers. The psychologist was through my University. I met the first LCSW through my Employee Assitance program. They gave me a few referrals. Another way to find a mental health provider is through your health insurance. My insurance has a provider search mechanism on there website. Once you have the names. You can call and ask them questions about their credentials, experience with your particular issues and them meet them. If you don't like the person, don't return and try another provider.
