That's because when you pronounce "H" you start with the vowel sound /eı/, and the choice of article follows that. For the same reason you'd write "a European country", because "European" starts with the consonant sound /j/.

English is weird.

So T was interesting today. Emergency session, very glad that he was able to get me in.
Anyway, T mentioned "child Murray" in our session today and said that I need to learn how to soothe, nurture and calm down the young me. He's never ever said anything like this before and I was shocked as I didn't think he was one of the T's that thought like that. As we spoke I really could get what he was saying. The thing is...."child Murray" pisses me the hell off! I actually said some pretty nasty things when I thought of her and I said exactly what I thought should happen to her.....yeah, interesting.....I am normally pretty mild and peaceful but thinking of nurturing that worthless little thing made me so angry.

They call it an aspirated H. We say, a habit, but an historical memory. I don't know which one is aspirated.

For our last session, I gave my PDOC a copy of Hawthorne's Wonder Book, given to someone as a commencement gift in 1899(so read the inscription). At first, she said she couldn't accept, and I assured her it was old but not particularly valuable.

Reading a few threads and some people really need to get a sense of humour. Or refrain from commenting on others posts if they are feeling threatened or defensive. I honestly believe there was nothing but humour in the post.
