If anyone read my last thread about home therapy, I was pretty confused whether I should go for it or not. However, I decided to let her come to my apartment for lunch, as she said it would be good for her to see me in my "natural environment" or something, haha.

But oh myyy, what do I serve her?!! I mean... I have an ED, so most of the time I only eat crispbreads with cheese, but I don't exactly feel like that's good enough to serve someone coming a long way to visit me for lunch, haha I was thinking about making pancakes, because that's something that is "okay" for me to eat, but I don't really know what is normal to serve your therapist, haha.....

So I need a little help: If your therapist was coming to your house for lunch, what would you serve?

I'd go with what you are ok with so that you can be present with her.
Crispbread (I don't know what that is!) with cheese and different fruits? Like a quaint picnic
Or pancakes, or salad and a lean protein, or a low cal soup?
I'd go with whatever is in your comfort zone.

I'm still getting over the body shock of ever even contemplating having a T in my house, let alone serving them a meal. I'd probably troubleshoot with the T and find out what they like to eat and either make it or maybe buy it. Like, if they liked a particular take-out, I'd get that.

ive gone out to eat with t before... i would say just go with whatever you would serve on a normal day. you don't have to get all fancy. I think you would probably make yourself more comfortable if it was low key... maybe soup and a salad, sandwiches, that sort of thing

It's inconceivable that any of my Ts would agree to come.

I agree with the salad idea. I'd grill or cook chicken breast in a pan with a little olive oil for T too, unless your T is a vegetarian. Most people are going to want some protein too. I'd buy one of those salad kits in a bag. All the ingredients, including dressing are there. You can't go wrong with it or mess it up. . Good luck! This sounds so fun, interesting, and nerve-racking, at the same time!

My T is incredibly health conscious, a pusher for the non-GMO movement, has a greenhouse in his yard, loves to cook, etc. - it would be scary to consider cooking for him.

Since I'm a vegetarian, and he is mostly a vegetarian, I would probably make a spread of all-veggie, healthy appetizers and an assortment of my favorite vegetarian dishes....along with fresh organic fruit for dessert.

Deli tray (small). Meat, cheese, bread, lettuce, tomato, mustard, mayo (maybe horseradish sauce if you're serving roast beef ... mmm, roast beef ...). And impress by having baked potato chips so she thinks we're .. I mean you're ... not eating high-fat crap. Oh yeah, and some little dark chocolate morsels for desert - anti-oxidants and a dopamine push, you know.

BTW, I'm kidding and serious at the same time. Who can complain about a sandwich and chocolate?

You could always ask your T to bring her own lunch, since you feel a lot of pressure to fix something appropriate. That would take all the pressure off and let you concentrate on therapy - no having to cook or play hostess. If that feels too awkward, lots of stores have pre-made deli trays...you could pick up one and a package of sandwich rolls and just fix your own sandwiches. Or, you could pick up a pre-made salad.

Honestly, if T were to come over to my house for lunch, I would feel so much pressure to fix something tasty and then play hostess that we would get nothing accomplished.

I have massive social anxiety about cooking or preparing food for other people so this is basically my idea of hell.

If, for some reason, I actually did agree to have my T over for lunch, I would either do baked potatoes with a choice of fillings, or I'd make halloumi wraps with rocket and yoghurt mint dressing.

If she is coming over to help you with the emotional aspects of eating a meal, I say challenge yourself to go outside your food safety zone. You have all the support around you, how about trying a lunch that sounds good (yet scary ) to YOU?

I love to cook and entertain and would love to have my T over for lunch. I would serve my homemade lox as an appetizer, with crackers, lemon, red onion, and capers. I would make a seasonal soup-- right now, probably something with asparagus, homemade bread or rolls. A salad, with grilled vegetables, maybe some artisan cheese. Fruit for dessert, or maybe cookies with that.
Thanks for this!

Great minds think alike (((anne))) I was thinking asparagus too...it's in season. I have a recipe for a non-dairy "cream" of asparagus soup that's healthy and yummy and quick. Serve that up with some whole grain crackers and some really yummy humus ...you've got yourself a lunch. Simple too...and if you can't eat the soup you'll have your crisps.

I'm surprised no one has suggested "brain food".

I would probably go with something light, like salad, fruit, and a scone. And maybe iced tea.
