Communication is key! But I find it hard sometimes to even try to communicate with my T. How else is she going to know what to help me with if I don't tell her what I need help with?
Any thoughts or problems with communication between you and your T?

I did not disclose everything I needed/should have disclosed until my current T. She is excellent, and we developed an excellent therapeutic relationship. I started trusting her with more and more. Communication is PARAMOUNT. Your T cannot help you unless you open up and really talk about what is going on with you. Likewise, IMO, a T is most effective when she is able to challenge the client's thoughts and actions and be gently honest about things. This all played a MAJOR role in my healing. To put it bluntly, I believe that communication is everything in therapy.
As a suggestion, you may try to say just what you said to your T...that you find it difficult to communicate with her. |

If you don't understand something, think you're/they're over reacting, think something is amiss, or you're upset/confused.....address it in the moment IN session. There's nothing worse than carrying around all that crap between sessions when you can figure it out right in the moment.

I know that communication is VITAL for the success of the therapy relationship, at least for me. I write everything down, tell t everything, etc. I have been lucky enough to be able to email and call t whenever, and get a response (as long as its something substantial to talk about, if not then it can wait until the next session). I made the way I work in t very clear when I met my new t, and I always make sure that t and i are on the same page, because I have had very bad instances with miscommunication and I know how badly things can go without good communication.

Talking is only one kind of communication. Your T is picking up on all sorts of other things as well.

I have found talking about communicating to be of great help.

Communicating comes in many ways. With time it becomes easier.
