I'd have to sue in federal court on my client's behalf. At some point, I may have to bite the bullet and do that. It will screw me forever in this court though.

Wiki, working in rescue can be the most maddening, heartbreaking work ever. It brings out both the best and the worst in people. I do a fair amount of oil spill recovery work and the effort people go through to help the oiled wildlife is simply breathtaking to me. And then we turn around and get a case where someone painted a turtle shell with nail polish just because they thought it would be fun. Idiots.

But then, you make a difference in an animal's life and it's all worth it.

We have a crow at the clinic now that some yahoo decided to raise fro a nestling. Well, as predicted, it imprinted on humans and is actually afraid of crows. She's now unreleasable, so we're looking for an educational placement for her. I'm having a blast working with her and teaching her things (although yesterday, she taught me a lesson - that she loves to steal stuff - she picked my pocket and then played keep-away with the paper she stole!). But it breaks my heart that she'll never fly free and never get to live her life to its full potential. She'll have a wonderful home, but it won't be the same as getting to be a crow. All because some moron selfishly decided he knew what was best without having a clue.

MKAC, I'm sorry for your court woes. Bureaucracies are really good at messing things up. I'm glad your daughter is improving, though!

Just got back from the Dentist, it was just a filling that came out although they were having a hard time re-filling it since my gums kept bleeding but eventually they were able to get it re-filled.

My law partner is not being sympathetic about my court issue. His quote, "So? The case was a loser. Are you just venting?" Me, "yes. Venting." Him, "Oh. Proceed."

Made me think of a Drew Carey quote I always thought was funny so I had to go look it up. "Oh, you hate your job? Oh my god, well why didn't you say so? You know there's a support group for that. It's called EVERYBODY. They meet at the bar!"

Lola...I dont do many presentations but my son does and he always does a dry run of his presentation so he knows the important points he wants to discuss from each slide...he just stands up in his bedroom and does it to an empty room... If winging it seems too hard

I use powerpoints but I don't have to walk around while doing it - so I look out upon people, but no wandering around and I do have notes on my ipad while computer is powerpointing. = So I did not understand the difference. I thought if you could use note cards but did not want to look old school, you could use an ipad. (I do not look cool and or hip while doing it and I think note cards are a disaster waiting to happen - I never used them)
Good luck with it.

I find that if I've made a good powerpoint show, that gives me enough to talk about.

Mornin, couch peeps.....

Wahhhhh....I don't feel like getting up today. I feel awful. Reflux/heartburn issues, pain issues, nausea.....was up half the night having to go to the bathroom....BLECH. I wish I could just stay in bed. But I have to go to the elementary school today all day for work....Ugh. I hope once I get showered and moving that I will get some energy because feeling this way sux.

As of this moment, I have no assignments tomorrow....but I believe I will be asked to go back to the school tomorrow as well. My mom is unable to watch my daughter at all this weekend which means I am not able to be on-call for work.....that's good because it means I'll have a weekend to recuperate before a busy work week next week.

I see T tomorrow late afternoon. Do you ever think - feeeeeelings, ICK! I want nothing to do with all that mushy emotional crap.

I hear ya MUE. I have T tonight and I'm not in the mood for "feelings" either. Although my sessions these days are more general conversation. Last week we talked about our pets, a dog park she went to, her daughter, the weather. lol. Way to avoid, eh? lol

Sound advice from the stopdog. I regularly give lectures on how to give oral presentations - with or without Powerpoint - and one of the most important things I mention (after the most important advice of all, which is "rehearse the presentation, in front of somebody else if possible, but otherwise just to an empty room") is that trying to force body language is not a good idea. And by "body language" I also mean whether you walk around or stand still, as well as how much you gesture with your arms etc. Looking at the audience, or just above them, is always a good idea, but whether you are standing, sitting, or moving around, should never be imposed on you by somebody else, because that makes your whole attitude less natural. And as for notes, who said that a Powerpoint presentation means you can't have notes? I give presentations for a living, and I always have notes. I don't always use them, but there's no way I'd walk up without anything written down at all. Heck, there is a notes function in the PowerPoint, so you can have hidden notes on the computer screen which don't show on the large screen. I don't use that myself, but many of my colleagues do.

In any case, I bet you'll do really well, Lola.
Thanks for this!
