I had a really great session with my T today

I had told her at the end of our last session that i would come with 2 topics to discuss, and luckily she pushed me on this. I hadnt written them down, so i took the initiative and told her that i only had 1 topic, which was my dad.

I figured that i have to talk about it at some point, and we have talked 'around' the issue of the DV i witnessed as a child between my m&d and how i feel responsible, but this was the first session that i really talked about it, and about the breakdown in our (myself and my dads) relationship and how i feel about it.
It has been almost 10 years since we spoke or had any form of contact.

I was so glad that my T pushed me, as just the act of talking about it felt very healing.

Thank you guys It was very hard, but i am glad i have started to talk about it and about the feelings of guilt i have and the fear i felt.

The adult, more logical side of myself, knows i wasn't responsible and shouldn't feel guilty, but the child side of me is still paralysed with guilt and fear.

Wouldn't it be lovely if we could turn off our emotional brains after a therapy session? That's what I'd like to do right now.
