So, I had T tonight and we created a safety plan for me. Has anyone else created a safety plan with their T? Did it work for you? I am planning to keep one in my room and give one to my parents. I'm giving one to my parents to help them know there is a plan in place.

Sounds like a great idea, especially involving your parents.

I created my own crisis plan. It has worked at times and not at others

I created one while in inpatient, but it was not the best, so I created another with my case manager.

Now I have a bunch of reminders on how to stay healthy written on a wall in my kitchen, and something I can hand people while freaking out (because I can usually still do that) that explains "if A is how I'm acting, do this, ext"

Really useful especially for my dad and my boyfriend (my ex always forgot to look at it ).

I sort of had one when I was in high school. It was a just list of things to do when I was feeling bad and then a list of ways to get help if I needed it, like my therapists number, what ER to go to, etc. It all fit on a folded up card in my wallet. I never actually needed it but it was comforting to have it with me, especially since my therapist wrote it out for me. :P I kept it even after I went away to university in a different town. I wonder what happened to it...

Yes it is definitely workable! The best part I feel hopeful about a future without so much or any hospitalization. It is like I have a safety net BEFORE going to the hospital which I never had before. The hospital was my safety net before...now there are definitive, tangible steps prior to going to the hospital.

My T and I created a safety plan with steps to take when negative thoughts start, it's definitely been very helpful
