Mornin, couch peeps!

I decided to take the next few days off from being available to work. My agency has been contacting me left and right to try to get me to work. I can't - I'm exhausted, have stuff to do and am burning out. That doesn't stop them from trying. I get that it's their job - but I wish they'd understand that after working over the course of 36 hours without getting sleep I can't be getting calls 2 hours after I get home to go to work. No. *sigh*

So, we're having an early Christmas dinner at my sister's house on Sunday. I am SO not prepared for it. I don't have family gifts ready. I haven't made chocolate covered pretzels yet. My house is a disaster. I can't find the Christmas present that I got for my sister. And I just got a request from my neighbor to purchase 4 handmade items that she needs by Wednesday - all of which require specific things that I don't have available. I usually order my supplies online, but there's no way that the items will arrive through my suppliers without paying out the wazoo for shipping. GAH. I am going to run to the store today to see if they have what I need - but considering the items are not "in season", I am not hopeful.

Too much to do.

Wow, neutrino, that's awesome! (And it's awesome that he bought a cap, too. I hope he'll be back on April 30th, to wear it and wave it. )
wikid, I'm glad your mom's move is proceeding apace.
healed, I hope you get snow. All the snow we got a week ago has disappeared. Bah. Humbug.

Morning couch.

Well, I never checked my mail yesterday, so I checked it this morning.

I had a jury summons notice for January. ****! After I was mentioning when we were talking about it on the couch earlier that I had never been called. I guess I spoke to soon. However, I wonder if I will be disqualified. One of the questions on the questionaire is "Are you or is anyone in your family a covicted felon?" My brother is.

Well, I better get going to work.

I'll check in again when I get home tonight.

The fact that a family member is a felon would not disqualify you for service in my jurisdiction. It might mean an attorney would strike you from a panel, particularly criminal.

Neutrino, that is so cool, I'm glad you were able to go!

And to you and Mastodon... a Swedish friend of mine has the message "Glad Lucia!" up on Gmail, so if today has anything in store for you, I hope you enjoy it!

Feeling a little anxious...I emailed YT... I never asked if that was okay. But the address is on his business card...

He asked me what I thought about working on a book together and I said I would read the table of contents and let him know....

I've bought the book and read the getting started sections and first chapter... I want to be able to discuss it on Monday...we dont have a lot of time and I dont want to waste any...

Hope he's not upset

ETA: I asked if I needed to get the workbook too

Thanks, Sally Brown! Yes, Saint Lucia's day is a big deal here. Kind of a festival of lights in the darkest part of the winter. That Youtube video I linked was from a Lucia concert - a procession with candles, led by a woman with a crown of candles.

Also, you get spiced wine and saffron buns.

Darn it. Wishful thinking I guess. I have to call the night before to see if I still have to report. Maybe I will get lucky.

This is probably the first time in my life that I haven't celebrated Lucia. Celebrated as in watching the concert on TV, eating saffron buns, gingerbread and drinking julmust (well, I'll have some julmust later).

There is a lttle town here that was started over 300 years ago by Swedish settlers and is named Swedesboro. There is a church there that still has a St Lucia and festival of lights service every year.

I went to two different stores trying to look for what I needed to fill this woman's jewelry order. Came up with only half of what I needed. I then remembered that I had something that just might work....Searched high and low through every bit of my jewelry supplies - and finally found it in the very last bin/box/bag/drawer that I had of jewelry stuff. Go figure.

I was feeling a bit disappointed because it wasn't quite what she asked for - so I made one item using what I have - emailed her a pic - and she loves it! WHEW!

I'm feeling SO relieved!

Sounds lovely and wintry!

And thanks for reminding me about your video. I didn't get to watch it yesterday because people kept asking me about "work" and "science" and I couldn't pop my earbuds in and ignore everybody like the cranky postdoc I am. Just got to watch it -- very nice, you guys are great.

I am on cloud 9 and as lite as a feather. I've been keeping the fact that I'm going to seek my masters in counseling psychology from my T because I was really worried how she would feel about it. She knows me and I truly value her opinion. However, it's been so distressing keeping this from her. Today, she told me that she knows I intend to become a T. I held my breath after she said that!!! Then she went on to say she thinks I'll make a great T and she even gave reasons why. She said she is behind me 100%. I'm so relieved that it's out in the open!!! I couldn't have asked for a more positive response!!! I can't even express to you how fantastic I feel right now. I want to share the news with everyone! Lol

Happy St. Lucia's Day, enjoy the goods!

Neutrino...that's so cool

Well, I left her alone at the apartment for the afternoon. Let her get used to it, relax, enjoy her paper, putter. She was scared, but I told her I'd come back in a few hours. She needs to start getting comfortable. Time to cut the apron strings.
