Hi all,

Bottom line is I've been having a rough few weeks, this week really bad. I've been working hard to not contact my T outside of sessions and to also stick to seeing her only once a week unless there's some sort of emergency. I haven't been doing the greatest job with either of those goals recently, so I can't reach out to her any more than I already have (except during session of course).

Anyway, T is pretty much the only support I have right now, so I guess I'm asking for some support to help me through this time. I know this won't last forever. I just feel incredibly alone right now. I can't stop crying. I don't know what to do other than cry.

What do you do when you can't talk to T but there's literally no one else?

I have been there at times in my life and it is so hard. I use a journal regularly to help me ground myself. But then I like to write and find it soothing to do. At times I have called a crisis line just to talk to someone. They take all kinds of calls, not just suicide prevention so if they have time they will listen and interact. Just give a false name and say anything. Sometimes that helps lift the burden. Posting here will give some support as well.

What do I do? I read posts at this forum... I watch movies to distract my attention, I sleep, I walk, I listen to the music, I take a warm bath and I imagine what I'll tell my T during next session... I am a daydreamer so I just imagine many things... Does it help? Hmmm, yes but when I allow it to help...

Maybe writing something more about your issues would help?
Thanks for this!

I found a few peer support groups for mental illness in my area. I've been attending one of them regularly (it meets two evenings a week). I've connected with one of the group leaders and call her occasionally for support. If you are in the US, you can look up DBSA (Depression, Bipolar Support Alliance) to see if there's a chapter near you. This has helped me lean less on my T. Good luck!

I'm in this predicament all the time. I usually write or stay on here. We're all here for you. Also there's tons of different coping mechanisms like drawing or meditation or exercising to do when you feel a need to talk to someone and you can't

I don't know if you are interested in chat rooms but they can give a sense of contact if you can't find a real live group. There is one that is very open called Mixed Nuts. It is just one idea out of many.
