Oh I never knew that, I know that some Eastern European religions celebrate Christmas on January 7th but I didn't know that anyone celebrated on the December 24th.

Yeah I know that it can be hard to find one this late in the season, I know that when I was younger my grandfather used to get me one every year from my first Christmas up until I was into my early 20s and I think that the only year that he missed was the year his wife passed away (when I was only 3) because they didn't make it there in time.

Yes you remember correctly Christmas Day is the day after Christmas here. Several countries in northern and central Europe and, interestingly, some countries in South America celebrate on the 24th. The only people in Sweden who celebrate on the 25th are expats from countries where they celebrate on the 25th.

When I was little, the 25th was a very quiet day when people just stayed in, or possibly went to visit the neighbours. These days I understand that post-Christmas clearance sales start in the early morning of the 25th. But as far as I'm concerned, the main function of the 25th is still to read the books I got on the 24th

God Jul! (I hope I will be allowed that brief non-English exclamation - it should be obvious what it means!)

Well, I did a bit of googling about ketones and protien in urine and think I may have found why mine had some in there.

Several medical sites for the layman said that your urine could show ketones and protien if you hadn't eaten in a while. I wonder how long they mean? I ate supper yesterday about 4pm (early because I forgot to eat lunch). I never eat breakfast, so I did not eat this morning. I peed in the cup about 10:30ish, so I hadn't eaten in about 18 hours, I wonder if that is long enough to show ketones?

After I left urgent care, I still went to the lab across the street and had the blood tests (CBC, CMP, TSH) she wrote an order on taken. I figured, it couldn't hurt to have more info, in the event pdoc does want it. Or a pcp if I decide to go to one. I probably will as T is encouraging me to, I just need to find someone. The guy the ARNP suggested is on my insurance...I checked. My insurance profile on him says he has only been practicing 3 years. So I assume that means, he changed careers late in life or he is young. Not that either one is bad. It could be a good thing because it means he finished med school recently and has the "newer" info. But it could also be a bad thing because he doesn't have much experience. It could go either way.

I still don't think I will go to him out of fear that if the ARNP suggested him, he may have similar views/reactions as she did today. I think I will still go with asking my T if she knows of a decent PCP.

I grew up in a strange hybrid family of German Jews and Scottish christians. So I am bit confused about the whole thing but when I a kid it was always fun. 24th Dec was the night we celebrated christmas too. I am an atheist now.

In some places like the Netherlands they celebrate Sinterklaus with satirical poems recited for everyone. I kinda like that idea. Christmas should technically be celebrated on the Epiphany, Jan. 6th, because that is the day the Three Kings arrived with gifts. I believe the date was moved from later to coincide with the Roman customs of Solstice but I don't remember all the details now.

My family always keeps our Christmas decorations up until at least the Epiphany.

BTW the Eastern Orthodox Christmas (January 7th) is actually based off of the Julian Calendar which is 13 days off from the Gregorian Calendar, (which is what most of us use).

Squirrel - my dr usually wants my blood and urine tests "fasting" ie not having eaten for at least 12 hours so that was a good move. The proteins might mean some meds are affecting your kidneys? Idk. I do know you dont want to mess with your kidneys. You might want to make sure youre drinking enough water.

Youre making it thru this!
Thanks for this!

I've heard of doing that for a blood test but never for a urine test,

The only time I have ever had to take a Urine test was for a drug test before starting at a new job.

There are a lot of reasons to have urine checked. All my wards get them as part of regular check ups and not for drug testing.

Just watched a dumb surfer chic movie. But the last song was cool: "let your soul shine before the sun shines, better than the moonshine, better than a shoe shine."

twas the night before Christmas or the night before the date
turns out twas the night that some people celebrate...
we're both in our kerchief or cap as women,
don't care about hatred or duck dynasty man...
I only wish peace on the group I have found,
by minimal rules we find we are bound...
The couch is my sanctuary, filled with all kinds,
and peace is elusive, not always...just at times...
regardless of the past and all the things that we share,
there is always someone listening someone willing to care...
may next year bring all happiness, self acceptance and less pain,
and may the funk that plagues the couch happily soon wane...
and for those of you believing and those of you with doubt,
may the new year bring a self love and acceptance that wins out.

Merry Christmas to all my PC friends!

PS...sorry for the poor punctuation and use of commas , I suck at that game!

Did your visit with the family to give presents to the children go well?
