So, lately I have been giving a lot of thought to this because for a long time my comfort zone has been being at home and not trying anything new. I also think it's got a lot to do with my difficulty in getting well and especially the difficulty in getting away from unhealthy ways of dealing with things.

My old pdoc always referred to it as my bubble and that I needed to expand it. So lately, I have been trying to find new things to try or going back to old things I used enjoy but stopped doing for various reasons.

A huge reason I am trying to expand my comfort zone especially things outside the house is because my world has gotten way too small. So I have decided to go back to piano lessons, practicing piano, and to try ballroom dancing lessons.

I think going back to the piano will give me an old but at the same time new way to express myself. And I decided to try ballroom dancing because it is something completely new, another way to express myself, and it involves getting some exercise which is something I want to do.

Also I am giving some thought to trying some form of martial arts but I'm still looking into it. We'll see how the other two go first. The other thing I really would like to try, if I can find something close to home, is a place to share my poetry that I write.

Not sure why I'm writing but just needed to put some thoughts out there.

Thats good that you are going out of your comfort zone, i have trouble going out of mine, as for right now with everything thats happening, I dont want to step out of mine, but I am proud, ballroom dancing sounds very classy, and poetry is deep, I write some stuff myself, keep up the good work. Tomorrow is my first session with the new t, I will let you know how that goes.

I have not been outside of the house since Nov. 26th. Mostly my comfort zone is my bedroom, the hall to the bathroom and the bathroom. Last week i was able to make it out to the kitchen for a cup of coffee twice. Yesterday I was able to stay in the kitchen for 5 minutes talking to my niece. Today there is a stranger in the house so I am back to my room.

I am trying to expand the zone in my room by finding new ways to express myself in my journals. "Thinking out side of the box" is very literal for me right now.

I feel for you! I have been "stuck in my room" at times too. We moved into a new house about 18 months ago...I didn't expect it to be so difficult. I've been going to therapy for about 6 months now. This month in particular I have been noticing that I am around and about the house more. I still am more comfortable in my room but I am able to tolerate being around family in the living/kitchen area much better. It's been kind of nice
Thanks for this!

I can relate. For me, the bubble is where I feel safe driving, which is all within 10 miles.
