Thinking of you Jersey. So sorry to read your post. Wishing your father well. Waiting is so tough. My son was hit by a car last year and I remember clearly the endless agonising waiting. I am so sorry. Xx
Thanks for this!

In general, I think the Disney films that are not adaptations of books are my favourites. With the exception of some of the classics, I guess. I detest love stories, and Disney adds them everywhere. (Don't get me started on Hercules...)

Alice in Wonderland I do like. No love added there.
I haven't read most of the books that the films were based on so I really don't have an opinion there.

I did love Wreck-It Ralph since I am a big video game fan, the next film which comes out in November is based off of a Comic Book Superhero (Big Hero 6) and I have a friend who LOVES Superheros (and Superhero film) so I know that he'll want to see that film with me.

I think that The Lion King has my all-time favorite Disney song in it- Circle of Live (also really loved Can You Feel The Love Tonight and I actually sung it for Chorus almost right after the film came out).

I had to turn it off right then and there... never saw the rest.

Feeling kind of stressed and anxious.
I know that I should stay off the boards, but once in a while I get into them and get so upset. I need wine. Lots of wine.

I am getting double scoped on Friday. Grrrrr.
So I am juicing it this week, no solids. That may actually help my mental state.

I have always said that the animated Disney films are among the best films ever made (certainly among the top of the animated films)

The scope thing sounds rough. Good luck with it.

Sorry there are upsetting threads. I sometimes think I am like Mr. Magoo - I don't know where the upsetting things are and I go bopping around - often not knowing people are upset.

I liked the Aristocats, Robin Hood and The Sword in the Stone as the three least upsetting disney cartoon movies for me. I also liked That Darn Cat, the Ugly Dachsund, and The Love Bug (but in all honesty - I don't know whether those were disney or not - just that I was mostly not frightened by them - although there were tense and upsetting moments in all of them - frankly I should stick with the Teletubbies)

SD - I know not everyone sees it, and I don't expect you or anyone else to take my word for it, but there is a HUGE double standard on these forums. HUGE. It sets my teeth on edge at best and makes me want to toss my laptop thru my living room sliders and into the lake at worst.

Just had to say it. I don't expect agreement.

Wow I thought i was the only one who found Disney films disturbing. My thoughts are with you Wiki on the double scoping, I've had a few trying to find out why I am anaemic all the time and the source of odd pains.

I had a **** night with bad dreams where I woke up and was scared to go back to sleep, but we only talked about talking about trauma issues in session yesterday and did a relaxation exercise. Why the bad dreams?

It does sound like a huge thing for you and I know that when I have the urge to toss the laptop - it is not a good feeling.
I am mostly baffled - I am not trying to argue with anyone.
(I mean sometimes I like to argue - but not right now and not over this)

(FYI - I did bash mine to pieces once with a baseball bat out of frustration. Windows and toshiba pissed me off).

I would thank you for that post two or three times, if I could, Wikid.

At our new firm, they have a Spam Day to celebrate Fat Tuesday. I warned everyone how much I hate Spam, but everyone assured me it is great fun. I didn't want to be a stick in the mud, but I decided to use Spam but in an unusual way. I found a recipe using Spam t make enchiladas. Even the mole sauce is made with Spam. I also made a cucumber, avocado salsa, and salted caramel brownies. It made me think of this book I read when I was little, where a kid had a bet that he could eat a certain number of worms every day for a month (or some length of time). The kid's mom helped him win this bet by making the worms into delicious recipes. Anyone read that book?
Thanks for this!

I did not taste spam until I was an adult. At a Monty Python party.

Now that I think about it, aside from xmas and thanksgiving and easter -we paid no attention to holiday sorts of days for the most part. When little, my sibling and I went trick or treating, but we both stopped around 11 or so and did not do any halloween things after that. So it was not a part of growing up and it carried over into adulthood for me. Mardi gras was something those people in new orleans did.

Thinking of you and your dad. I've spent many late night/early morning hours in the hospital with my son, so I know that it's not easy on you to be there, aside from the worries about your dad. Make sure you stay hydrated, and catch catnaps when you can.

Glad the snow didn't interfere with your therapy appt. I think of you now on Mondays, because you and I both have therapy on Mondays at 3:00.

Another kids book even better than the movie---Neverending Story.

As much as I love the movie, the book is a bit fiercer, as is Falcor the luck dragon. No puppy dog serpents in this book!

I liked "Kiss the Girl" from Little Mermaid. I think I mostly liked the animals that were singing it (was it frogs?--I don't remember).

It's interesting you say that because when I was in Elementary school we sung songs for The Little Mermaid in Chorus, including the song you mentioned.
