First of all, T and I NEVER email. We only did this week because of scheduling. It was really no big deal, but getting an email from her, even about scheduling felt NICE. It felt like there was some affection or something, even though it was just regarding scheduling. Perhaps I was just seeing what I wanted to see?
Her first email was pretty standard; "Hi R, My conference at work is going to interfere with our tentatively booked 5:30 slot on Tuesday February 25th -- my apologies. I have no other nighttime availabilities that evening -- would you like to take the early morning Wednesday spot at 8:30? I also have Wednesday the 26th open at 10:30am (but I think you are in class then). Apologies for the inconvenience, L." Then I was just short and to the point because I know she prefers that, so I just said, "Hi L, Wednesday morning at 8:30 is early, but acceptable. I will take it. Thanks, R." Then she said, "Sounds good - I have you booked in for the 8:30. Have a good weekend, R, L." Then about five minutes later she sent another email that said, "PS -- It is an early time. It's too bad our schedules don't match up better. See you next week. L." And for some reason that whole exchange, especially the PS, felt really nice. Is this just my brain doing weird stuff as per usual? |

Sounds like a perfectly normal and cordial exchange. If anything I think the T is simply trying to communicate empathy by acknowledging the appointment time is very early and could be troublesome for most people to attend.

Your emotional response and head response are perfect as is. Allow yourself to feel it and take it in.

Any kind of contact with someone we are attached to and want attention from can certainly feel pleasant. Just having the connection, even without heavy content, is something. Conversely, I don't see anything beyond typical niceties here, which does *not* mean she does not feel any affection for you, though, you'd know best on that front.

But mostly 8:30 is just early for me. And I guess for other clients too, since literally no one else is there when I go see her at that time, whereas if I see her at 11, there are 4 or 5 other Ts and all their clients in the waiting room. So I guess there are positives to having class at 10 and thus needing to see T at 8:30...no awkward running into other clients as you enter/leave. Who the heck gets up at FOUR????? That is irrational. The human body is not meant for this. |

I used to see my long term t at 7:30 am. So i would get into work at or after 9, which was late and made me look like a slacker. But i was getting up at 5:30 and driving almost an hour. It was hell. My current t was still fooling around in graduate school at that time, so i just tell him to stfu!

Maybe also the issue is that I feel like if I told her how happy it made me to get this email (and by happy, perhaps I mean reassured, or safe), then she might not ever email me again like this. Like if I told her how much I appreciated it, she would take it away from me. My stuff again, to be sure...
