Just a fun poll out of curiosity.

We typically have sessions Monday & Thursday. We just cut back some due to finances, the plan now is 90 minutes Monday (issues/talking) and 30 Thursday (skill-building). We also do email sessions, a couple a week that stretch between sessions. I do occasional other sessions as wanted.

I see two separate psychodynamic therapists. I see each one once a week.

Generally, I see my T once a week. Our usual day is Fridays. When things are rough for me, T will allow twice a week sessions, for a short period of time.

How in the world do you have the opportunity to see your T so often???? That would solve so many problems more quickly. Wow. Thats great!

once a week. on fridays.
sometimes a week takes way to long to pass.
i feel like i need twice a week right now, but my t doesn't do that. though she will once in a while. she squeezed me in last week because I was really upset when I called. and I'm very thankful because my normal appt was canceled because of snow....so it's been over a week now...i feel like I'm floundering...sinking...

None of the above. Every two to three weeks on no particular day.

Maybe a couple times a month so I don't even make it onto the poll. It's not very effective at this point. Though I have gone more regularly in the past and didn't get very far with anything those times either.

I put in both 2x and 3x because it varies. It's always at least 2x. The days vary some, too. Always Tuesday and then either Friday or Saturday (rotate every other week). When we do an extra session it could be any day between Weds and Sat, depending on her schedule and my needs. She's pretty flexible, which I appreciate.

It seems like some people go to Therapy only every other week or even more infrequent than that, I know that for my prior Therapist (who I saw a total of 4 years) we only meet every other week starting after only a few months of seeing each other (at one point when things were going very bad for me I recommended that we go back to every week but she didn't think that was a good idea) so maybe you should include those options (possibly getting rid of anything beyond 3 times a week since it doesn't seem like anyone see's their Therapist more than that)

That's a good point! I used to see me T every other week too. I don't know how to edit it unfortunately...
Do you know how to edit a poll?

I replied to the duplicate thread, but this one seems to be the actual thread so oh well I'll copy/paste over here as well.

None of the above. My appointments with my Pdoc are really varied, it all depends on how I'm doing and his schedule. It can be anything from once a week if I'm doing poorly, to once a fortnight, to once a month, or if I'd to cancel an appointment every 6-8 weeks. I'd say on average I see him every 3 weeks, and have email contact in between that time as well.

Hi, I wasn't positive you were asking me, but I think you were. I see a therapist online. I am fortunate to work from home and my T is semi-retired, so she also works from home and has very good availability. Our sessions include real-time chat, phone sessions, and email, each with benefits and drawbacks, but very very convenient.

It absolutely is a wonderful, if very intense way, to do therapy. I have made what she calls amazing progress in one year, have seen major shifts in many areas of my life and feel very blessed to have this opportunity with her.

It is expensive- I spent too much last year, am tapering back some this year as I was doing more like two double sessions per week plus emails.

I work with my therapist almost daily, so technically, like 5-6 times a week, although our live sessions are more like twice a week, that's true.

For almost 4 years, I saw my T for 90 minutes every Tuesday. Now I see her twice a month for 60 minutes. Still on Tuesdays.

Twice a week, Tue and Thu. I went once a week for some months but then T offered twice-weekly. I would not have asked for that so I'm grateful, because I definitely need it.

With exT it was twice a week, current T tries to see me once a week (either Tue or Thu as on other days she works in different cities) and it works in 50% (in other 50% of time we see each other every 2-3 weeks)

There was no selection for me. I see her once a month unless it is an emergency. Even then, I would likely have to see the crisis counselor, and he is of no help to me. Also, I see her on whatever day she has an opening.

I was thinking the same the same thing! I don't have time to see a therapist or my pdoc more than once a month. I tried twice a month but I couldn't swing it with childcare, work, school, etc...
