Maybe it helps to know when to take in advice and when to take it with a grain of salt. My T has said that objectivity is a myth---everyone has their biases. Even T's.
I can only speak from my experience, that 95% of the time T is helpful but the other 5, he may be bringing his own beliefs/history even baggage to the table. I used to cling to everything he said but I feel healthier that I can call him out on his biases and still understand that it won't ruin our relationship. I'd hate to think that a T would let their personal beliefs interfere with exploring the possibilities of your identity. It bothers me that she came to a conclusion rather quickly without exploring the possibilities. T's have so much of our trust--I think it is healthy to keep listening to your inner voice as well as T. |

Youre kind of reinventing the wheel here. I know youre young, but are you aware of whats going on in the country about gay marriage? Who is on what side and why? I dont think anybody is saying anything is your ts fault. Just saying what side it SOUNDS like she is on? And that its usually hard to get people to switch what side (of the gay marriage "debate") they are on. If she is against, and you are for - you have an adult decision to make. Thats life.
