After telling my T this week that I used thought of her to sooth myself I had a lovely experience yesterday. I started to think of a friend and felt that same lovely warm glow that I feel when I think of T.

In my past I've always had felt as if I was desperate to find a "mother figure". Be it at work or where ever. I just felt alone and afraid and unloved. Now I am able to "let in" these feelings from the appropriate people in my life, ie friends and immediate family, I am no longer attaching to everyone.

Before I had no idea of who meant something to me or who didn't. I was like a piece of paper being thrown around in the wind and just waiting to stop and hopefully someone would be there. Sometimes this would lead me into unhealthy friendships because I didnt understand.

It seems T is right, I wont always "need" her, but I'll always be grateful to her for helping me become "reborn" :-)

Thats so good that you were able to talk to her about it, and have also found another was of soothing yourself. That is a HUGE accomplishment. The soothing is growing.

That's so wonderful, Mouse. I had a similar experience with "touching" where I was afraid to touch/be touched and had an experience that changed that. It is nice (and a bit shocking) to realize who you like and who's good for you and who isn't; who you don't care so much about.

what a wonderful post to share here with the board. other folks will draw much inspiration from your examples. you're not dealing with easy issues nor are you shying away from them.

what hard work but such payoffs!! well done and keep at it mouse_!

I recently started using my T for comfort. I have discovered what i have been missing my whole life. emotional connection. I find that with my T. I have a lot of trouble sleeping at night. I think i don't feel safe for some reason. I bought a small smileyfacs stuffed animal and took it to my session last week. I had her spray it with the body spray she uses so that i can remember her smell throught the week. I know that sounds wierd or dumb but it works The soothing is growing.
