My T switched to a larger office. I was really worried I'd have issues with adjusting to the change. Although it did take a little bit to get used to it, it wasn't as long or as difficult as I feared.
Good Luck!

my T moved offices and we met for the first time in it on sunday. i did not like it. it felt weird to me. and i didnt talk much. i just stared at the floor. today we met again and he asked me where i want to meet. i decided to meet downtown in the courtyard on a bench like we had been doing during his office switch. idk why but i feel better there.

I always sit on the floor and so does T, I notice everything in the room and T finds it amusing that I do even down to the smell, once telling me I was the only one who noticed lol!

Changes in the office don't really make a difference to me as long as I can find a focal point when trying to avoid eye contact.

Surroundings are just background to me. I don't like noticing them, it makes things too real and concrete in there.

I have been in different rooms with the same T. But what counts is my bond with the T. Then it doesn't matter too much where we are as long as we are comfortable.

Once (with previous T) I came and the client's chair was in a slightly different angle than it always was, I immediately thought about it and felt a bit uncomfortable and I told T like: oh, I see that a chair is on a different angle than usually and he said that I can change it if I want to but then I thought that I was ridiculous and just moved on...

But I think it happens to many clients - once I entered the office of my current T and the emdr machine was much closer to the client's couch so probably it was used just before, I just looked at it and my T immediately asked if she should put it back to the "right" spot, and I was like "no, of course not, I don't care, why do you ask actually?". Thus, I guess for some of her other clients, it might be a problem but I might be just over-thinking...

I hate the pillows on my T's couch. It's the only thing that changes (minus the papers on her desk). I asked her once if she ever moves the pillows around for fun to see how her clients react. She told me everyone moves them around. It bugs me so much, but I don't touch them because I don't want her reading into it.
