I feel like I want to bring a pillow, stress ball...or something...to therapy to help me with stress. I have a small soft throw packed to take to therapy for the first time tomorrow.

Do you take anything like that to therapy?
Does your therapist keep objects like that in your room for you?

No I don't, but I have always wanted to take a nice fleece blanket with me, to wrap myself up in

My T is a sandtray therapist, so her room is full (and I mean FULL!) of objects, figures, marbles etc. Every now and again she'll give me one to hang on to if she has a holiday for a few weeks or something. I like it when she does that, as it makes me feel closer to her. I think that's what is called a transitional object?

I don't, but I think it's a great idea. Although... my first session with new T (male, I found him online - so no referral or anything) I had pepper spray in my pocket. Because apparently I'm a little bit paranoid about everything And you know what? It DID make me feel better!!!

I have debated taking a teddy bear to hold onto, but haven't found the courage yet.

I always have my stress ball in the bag - just in case but I've never needed it... My T has many different stress balls in her office as well as pillows so I guess I could use them if I wanted... Sometimes before sessions I feel like I'd like to walk or sit on the floor or play with the ball etc. But somehow in the office I always feel like just sitting still on my spot and making perfect eye contact with my T - just to show that I can

And today my T asked me if I wanted to take anything from her office to keep the connection during the long break, she said that she has really nice stones and glass "things" but somehow I didn't want to take anything...

I bring silly putty or kinetic sand. The therapist I see does play therapy and also has a side-table with different fidget toys but she sees young children primarily so between all the possible snot, dirty hands, saliva.. I'll pass.

No I don't take anything. I don't think it's a bad idea, I just don't get much comfort from objects.

I sometimes bring a fidget toy to keep my hands occupied. T allowed me to pick out a stone from her collection. They all had different positive sayings or words on them. I kept it in my car so I would see it all the time. Unfortunately, I managed to lose it, which was very upsetting.

Lately I take my sketch book with me, or a coloring book. It helps me be more honest and grounded if I'm a little distracted. I also have a stress ball, some other stress toys, and on really tough days I bring my bear in with me. I almost always have jewellery that I can use to fidget with. My former t had all sorts of stuff in her office. This new t has nothing because a bunch of them share offices and we are never in the same one twice (yet). It's a bit disconcerting actually. I miss having the huge pillow on former t's couch to hide behind if things got scary.

Check inside the emergency brake, I find everything in there.

i always had my notebook & pen with me when i saw her in person, and would fiddle with my pen, eventually i realized it was a "tell" how much I was fiddling with it she figured out the more I fiddled the more I didn't like the topic at hand when I realized she'd figured that out I started keeping the pen stuck in the notebook spiral til i was ready for it. i used to could be such a lil booger.

after i stopped using my pen, I started grabbing the pillows on the couch and kneading them with my fingers, that worked too.

Haha, I do the same with a pillow and a blanket that sit next to me on the couch. I sort of side hug the pillow and pet the blanket when I'm nervous. I wonder if she's noticed...

It's 85 degrees out, no AC in her office and I still bring my fleece coat to hide under if need be.

She has blankets and toys and stuff, but I don't accept them from her.

I always bring my own silly putty. No way would I use any the therapist might have. But really the woman does not have stuff like that in her office in general - I do approve of the absence of that sort of stuff.

I bring a cozy sweater which I end up holding onto for dear life. You think he knows? EekDo you take an object with you to therapy to help with stress?

I don't take anything specifically (though I have considered a blanket) because the pillow on her couch tends to be my "safety object". I squeeze/hug it, relax on it, hide behind it, use it to keep me warm or whatever else I need it for.

Also though, I tend to always have a hair rubber band on my wrist that I pop and "play with" when I feel the need to look away.

Too hot here for a nice blanket. I like the idea though.

No, I end up wearing jewelry , usually a cuff bracelet on my left hand and I mess with that during sessions, otherwise I'll pick my cuticles until I bleed. (I did that a lot in the beginning and he noticed.)

One of these days I'll break a bracelet into a million pieces from messing with it. elastic and beads everywhere
