This is at least the third time. Possibly 4th. But I remember two earlier incarnations.

3rd. One was just a name change; I didn't officially leave. I'm Chris, Hankster. AKA Sierra.

I recognized who you were but did not want to out you until you wanted to be.

I don't think I have ever had the urge to change names or quit. I always thought I would just not sign in or come to the site.
I would have to re-enlist if I left for a long time because I would forget my password probably. I should add it to the list I keep. I have to keep a list because I do forget if I don't sign in for awhile in a lot of places that require passwords. And the requirements for passwords are not the same - which I find tiresome. At school, I just keep mine posted on the front of my computer because they make us change it so often.

The holidays are wreaking havoc on the treatments. It's a bit discouraging when they tell you one week everything is going swimmingly and then the next week oops now it's spread to some new horrible place

thanks. It had just gotten better and everybody was all happy and even relatively kind of relaxed and then it got really worse.

It's so disconcerting and stressful. I remember it all too well with my sister. The unpredictability and uncertainty was just never-ending.

Why of course! There's just such power in the love between cathy and heathcliff, the depth of their characters, I love Ellen too, even when she doesn't want to she loves Cathy, I really feel connected to the stark beauty of the moors and that house as opposed to the elegance of thrushcross grange, i love cathy's struggle between her wildness and her need for a fancier life. I love to hate Edgar and Isabel. I love how C and H seem to be each other's shadow - H represents C's wild heart, and C's need sort of is represented in H when he marries Isabel in part to spite C. And young catherine so much like her mother... I remember when I first read the book, I was a very shy 11th grader who had never been on a date, and longed for someone to love me the way H loved C. Even with how it all turned out... that was beautiful to me too... my heart is just so stirred every time I read it. I guess that's the biggie for me. It stirs my very soul. I have a wildness in my soul but I hide it so far below the surface that no one even suspects that it's there and I feel it big time when I read the book.

I'm too nosy/a glutton for punishment to put anyone on ignore. This is post 965 if that helps.

No ma'am, your intro is perfection itself and I couldn't hold a candle to it. I simply volunteer to count posts.

Decisions, decisions . . What to read next? After WH, I'm thinking something light and semi- brainless. Hmm.

Light In August?
Long Day's Journey Into Night?
Clarissa?

Or did you mean something more like Eudora Welty or Dorothy Sayers? Jeanette Winterson?

Oh, you have a Starbucks name? Whenever I have been at a Starbucks in the US I've always made up a name, usually an English version of one of my first names but sometimes something completely fictitious, because my regular first name (silly English language has no word for "the first name you are called by") is too unusual in an English context. I didn't know people from the US do that, too! (I hate that they ask for a name. It feels intrusive. I know that is irrational but it really bothers me. Almost as much as cashiers asking how I am doing. They don't actually want to know, it's an empty phrase, and again it is intrusive.)
Thanks for this!

Pratchett? Georgette Heyer? Patrick O'Brian?

...though Clarissa does sound like an obvious choice Or À la recherche du temps perdu. (Another one I've never tried to tackle.)

stopdog, I was sorry to read your news. I thought holidays were less likely to mess up medical treatment schedules in the US... It sucks, wherever it happens.
Thanks for this!
