Department of Economic Security. The welfare office Trying to get everything lined up so I can show enough income to qualify for my apartment. I do not want to move to transitional housing. Next step: back to work. Being on assistance blows chunks

Considering their choice to become a therapist - each is nuts by definition. The extent of nutness is the only difference.

Ah I would just say the welfare office lol. I'm sure DES is common phrase in the US. I'm outside the U.S. so I'm sure that's why it's weird to me hah

Each state can have its own name for the agency that handles assistance - so it is not consistent here either.

Am I the only person to carry a book in my bag all the time? And/or have a book on my phone to read as well?
Thanks for this!

Not a physical book, I carry mine electronically. But I always have one.

Well, I got in the door finally. It only took an hour
I have my knitting and my iPad. Now that I'm inside and sitting down I'll be alright... For a few hours anyway. Here's hoping I'll be out of here before mid-afternoon

I've only ever dealt with welfare in AZ. No idea what they call it elsewhere...

Can't see the screen properly outside with the sun in my eyes. Besides, whining is an integral part of the DES experience

I do too. I just read a fab book - Alek Wek's autobiography, she is a supermodel from Sudan. She describes treking for days with her family when the civil war came.

Question: Why bother wearing pants if you're going to tie the belt around your thighs?
Another question: how difficult is it to walk in such a way that your pants stay up when they're belted around your thighs?

Okay, through observation I answered my own question. Or at least one of them anyway. Apparently you hold onto the buckle while you walk and do a little hop-jig thing every third step or so to yank 'em up. Which still begs the question, why???

Clearly they are in cahoots.

Never knew such unanimity on a point of law in my life.
I presume it was about the alleged unexplainability of the aforementioned panic attacks and hyperventilation. They both stipulated? (I've never been able to use that word in a sentence in my life, its fun! ) i would not want a t with the cahooties

Ok ladies.... Embarrassing question to follow... You'd think I would know by now, but I don't....

Panty hose... Do you wear underwear with it? I mean it's called "panty" hose right..... I'm confused.

I don't know. Looks to me like you'd wind up stiff and sore and bow-legged. Not to mention completely unable to carry anything. And how do you run from the police?
