Payback is a hateful bit*h! Did you clean the toilet with his toothbrush? Get extra creative with dinner? Replace his Rogaine with Nair?

Sorry, I tend to get carried away.

I'm sure you handled it in a mature and rational way, JS.

I got some fig vinegar - its balsamic-ish? Soooooo good on fruit. I forget to do it tho.

I am getting no sex not even inmy last manic episode. I am sure this is the reason for my foul mood. TMI coming up , not even my little friend in the box under the bed seems to help, i think i need skinonskin but that just disgusts me at the moment.

I love reading old recipes like these. And am very glad I never, ever had anyone try to serve them to me (It is titled truly upsetting vintage recipes):

They had a perfectly good real pineapple there, somewhere...and just used the top?
All those poor little tomatoes and radishes, massacred for nothing.
The salmon fish loaf....

Even in the silence of my daughter's room I still hear noise. So very deaf. I'm sure it'll be days before my hearing is back again. Oh well, it was very worth it.

No 6 looks perfectly normal to me. It's a faded old picture with weird colours, but the recipe looks unexceptional. It's the kind of thing I'll make for H's birthday breakfast.

Good morning- I am home with a sick kiddo. Trying to decide if this is just a simple virus that will pass or if it is strep- which it is something she has a history of. The other worry is that her teacher has cancer and currently going through chemo and radiation.. and we are supposed to try not to send a sick kid to school.. I am just not sure how careful we are supposed to be.

I thought junior member meant you were U18 and veteran member meant you were over 70 or possibly had been in the armed forces. Was I wrong? As for Poobah - no idea what that could refer to, perhaps some americanism that is beyond the ken of us europeans?

I thought Poohbah was an old Flinstones reference, kind of like the Elks or Freemasons

aha here it is
Grand Poobah is a term derived from the name of the haughty character Pooh-Bah in Gilbert and Sullivan's The Mikado (1885).[1] In this comic opera, Pooh-Bah holds numerous exalted offices, including "First Lord of the Treasury, Lord Chief Justice, Commander-in-Chief, Lord High Admiral... Archbishop of Titipu, and Lord Mayor" and Lord High Everything Else. The name has come to be used as a mocking title for someone self-important or high-ranking and who either exhibits an inflated self-regard or who has limited authority while taking impressive titles.[2] The formal term for the practice of holding multiple offices is "dual mandate".

In popular culture[edit]
The term "Grand Poobah" was used on the television show The Flintstones as the name of a high ranking elected position in a secret society. Fred Flintstone and his friend Barney Rubble were members of the Loyal Order of Water Buffaloes Lodge No. 26. The lodge is a spoof of secret societies and mens' clubs like the Freemasons, the Shriners, the Elks Club and the Moose Lodge.[3]
The character Howard Cunningham on the TV series Happy Days was a Grand Poobah of Leopard Lodge No. 462 in Milwaukee.[4]
A Fraggle Rock episode is called "The Secret Society of Poohbahs". Gillis Fraggle serves as the Beggler-Beg of the Poohbas, Convincing John serves as the Vanguard of the Poohbas and Red Fraggle serves as the Mind-Reader who sees if a potential member is worthy enough to join the Poohbahs.
In the comic strip Pearls Before Swine, the character Rat deems himself Grand Poobah of the Benevolent Society of Angry Misanthropes.[5]
In Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft, there is a character named Princess Poobah.[citation needed]

My adult daughter recently had strep, and also my grandchildren from a different family who
live in a different state. I would get her a throat culture to be on the safe side. I hope she feels better soon!

You all need to watch more gilbert and sullivan.
Poohbah:I am, in point of fact, a particularly haughty and exclusive person, of pre-Adamite ancestral descent. You will understand this wh en I tell you that I can trace my ancestry back to a protoplasmal primordial atomic globule."
Poohbah -The Mikado

"Pooh-Bah. (With a great effort) How de do, little girls, how de do? (aside) Oh, my protoplasmal ancestor!

Ko-Ko. That's very good. (Girls indulge in suppressed laughter.)

Pooh-Bah. I see nothing to laugh at. It is very painful to me to have to say "How de do, little girls, how de do?" to young persons. I'm not in the habit of saying "How de do, little girls, how de do?" to anybody under the rank of a Stockbroker."

Speaking of references, is Tom Lehrer becoming less well-known in the States? I made a reference to his The Elements to a couple of friends, one Swedish, one USAnian, both in their late 30s, and neither knew of it. The American knew the original Gilbert & Sullivan song, unlike the Swede, but it really surprised me that neither of them knew Lehrer's version.

Zzzz.... Tired today. I'm too old to stay out until midnight. And I'm still very deaf.

Maybe I'll take my kiddos to the mall today. I need something to do. The mall is so big I could easily get extra exercise in just walking fast with the two kids in the stroller.

Plus, little girl doesn't fit her 6mth sleepers anymore. Now I need 9mth. I should check the clearance racks.
