Its my favorite!! Well one of my favorites. My favorite episode was when Pig was writing an essay about what happens when you die, so he was asking the other characters, and they are answering about reincarnation, and life after death, etc etc, then you see Pig scratching out his original answer: "I'll fall over." Also i love his ladyfriend Pigita.

Alas, it seems Mast and I are the only G and S fans. Which may help explain the blank stares when I make reference to their operettas during class.

That is one of my favorite performances. And I have seen a lot of performances of The Mikado.

Ps. For those of you not familiar with it - the tall guy is PoohBah.

I have been to concerts but I have never seen a play or an opera. I would love to! I need to put it on my bucket list.

Plays - one of my favorite things to do! H and I used to go at least 2x a month to community plays - now work is often in the way.

So yawny and sleepy today! Can't figure out why, though, other than boredom at work is killing me. Yesterday we couldn't breathe, today I can't find enough work to keep a mouse busy. Grrr.

I'm doing homework and sneaking onto the couch every chance I get!

I read threads and keep hearing a voice (not my voice) in my head that says, quite severely "And this is why we can't have nice things"

It amuses me a lot.
Free speech meets political correctness. And although I rarely agree with the tough love people, I don't think they should be erased or silenced. I am also not super politically correct-y (particularly in regards to children for example - who I think should all be placed in military school and not given IEPs). But I also don't think they should be silenced or erased. Not that the world would not be a better place if everyone just did it the way I think best....
(for anyone wondering whether to get upset or not - I would not - I am just playing here)

SD you bring up a very good point. While a forum would have another name if discussion weren't allowed, just how far one is willing to go to "be right" has yet to be determined.

I can give support and commisseration, and occasionally advice, but once it becomes clear that my input isn't needed, I take the high road. There are several posters on PC that I just don't even bother to open their threads, because they get oodles of good advice and keep repeating themselves ad nauseum, NOT taking any advice, which leads me to believe they just want to vent and should not seek advice. People who want to wallow, feel free to wallow, just don't splash any mud on me while I'm trying to get myself clean.

Oh, and a big +1 on the military school idea, as a mom I am not offended by your comment, both my girls would greatly benefit from more structure and discipline.

Trust me, I'm way closer to over 70 than under 18. Way, way closer. And even if I had wanted to serve in the armed forces they wouldn't have taken me.

I think venting is fine - I find there to be more problems when someone says they are just venting and others still want to give advice and get upset that the advice is not taken or appreciated. I find it is better for me to refrain from interaction than for me to get worked up about not being appreciated.

I have a brass traveling inkwell that looks almost exactly like this.

Any idea how to tell how old it is?

Hm., online sources say they were used in the 1800's...to the mid 1800's.

I wish I knew which of my ancestors owned it. Interesting.

You sure paint an interesting picture.

I just like corners. They're cozy and safe. No one can approach from behind and both sides are protected.

I had nothing productive to add so I figured to the corner was safe.

Strep throat it is for my D.. Another day off for me and her tomorrow. This week reminds me of the time I was a stay at home mom.. H is playing a concert out of town this weekend so it will just be me and the kids thursday through Sunday.. My kids are good kids, but I am sure I will be in need of a good strong drink and a night by myself by Sunday.

Oh, and I am checking out daycares for my son, since he was kicked out of his preschool.. I just toured one today that will cost almost as much as our mortgage monthly.. Holy crap! Why the hell is daycare so expensive?

Aww that sucks! I hate strep. I used to get it several times a year. Had my tonsils out 7 years ago and haven't had it since.

Ugh. It's the same here. Daycare is like $1200-$1800 a month. I'll be a stay at home mom for the entire duration of my kids school lives. My youngest will never be accepted to a daycare and even once she is in school I need to be 100% available to her needs. So it would be near impossible to find a job that is that flexible. I work from home now, but only 3-5 hours a week (unless I'm working on a project... But no more than 15 hours). So not much money.
