I took two psych classes. The first, sometime in the 80's, was taught by a military psychologist who was moonlighting at the local community college. He divided up therapy approaches into two categories: psychodynamic and behavioral. I had read about what was then just called cognitive and asked him where that would be placed. He had no idea what I was talking about. It wasn't as ubiquitous as it is now but he should've known. The second teacher (Cross-Cultural Psych), in about 2006, was a professor and a researcher. That class was exponentially better.

I could see me viewing something like that and then deciding to try and make it - get some pork belly, smoke the bacon, making several different kinds of the pizza, wrap the pizzas in the bacon I made and invite a bunch of willing guinea pigs (friends) over to taste it. My friends are pretty good about being willing to taste things. And then never doing it again.

Sd - thanks. That is a playful curious approach that i would not have thought of in regard to a household chore. Work, yes. Home stuff, no. Home was all about doing it the one right way. Really, thanks!!

Watch out, here comes a hug!!

Thanks for this!

That sounds much more yummy than laying bacon around the crust and topping it with bacon bits.

Glech. I don't like salt. I'm supposed to add salt to everything because I don't get enough sodium. That's why I'm not a fan of bacon, too salty.

Speaking of traps. Looking back, I can see that my t is quite skillful at using hers. And, she even stepped back when I insisted and allowed me to fall into a couple of my own, then graciously helped me up and out of them. Damn, I've been lucky to have my t!!!

Youre preaching to the choir. I dont even put salt in my oatmeal. But i do put greek yougurt and fake low sugar maple syrup, so there is probably salt in those.

Eta - okay breakfast time. I got up late today.

I accept there are things I choose not to change. I am more attached to and they mean more to me than what the expected result of the change would bring. I am very clear about that. I do not believe the woman could help me up and out and I would not accept her assistance if she tried. It is mine.
I keep going to the Stephen Crane poem Because It Is Bitter and Because It Is My Heart.

I love salt. I don't add sugar to most things that are not desserts and I am not a huge dessert fan. But I can see where a salt lick is an attractive item.

I should have said, graciously helped me out when I asked her to. I accidentally left out that little important detail.

That is nice. It just needs to be a bit less big.

Hankster will probably see it as orange and white.

Ah. I cannot imagine me asking the woman to help me. And I cannot imagine her being any good at it even if I did. But I would never get to the second part in the first place.

Ack...grits AND bacon-wrapped pizza.

I feel like one of my Ts has painted himself into a corner ("No one puts Baby in a corner!!" Ha.) by trying to "help" me with something I don't think I really need help with...now he feels like he needs to "solve this." Pretty sure it's just how I am...nature vs. nurture (I admit it's usually/sometimes a combo thing, but not so much in this case, and I have said as much). I do get annoyed sometimes, but I also feel like I am just kind of observing the whole thing. It's like, "Keep trying, and I'll just sit here."

I love that poem...

Yeah, there are some things I won't change, there are plenty that I want and need to change too. My conflicting needs to attach and not attach for one. I don't want to live my life on the outside looking in... I don't understand the loneliness. I have a lot of support these days... I choose to let T help me, though I'm fully aware that that can be a double-edged sword. And so I walk into the traps with eyes wide open. Sometimes I think I'm the crazy one.

For some reason that makes me think of Death's voice in the Discworld novels...
