Ex-T's office manager called me this afternoon. She passed away this morning.
I knew this was coming. I've been grieving the loss for months now yet this not very surprising news still hurts. I just want to curl up into a ball and cry. I miss her so effing much!

really sorry to read this ... it's so hard losing a T in this way ... not sure if she was your current therapist or if you have a new one as well who can help you with some of this, but I know how hard it can be and hope you have a lot of support here and also offline to help you

nervous puppy, I am very sorry for your loss of your beloved therapist. I can not imagine what you are going through. You are in my thoughts, in addition to sending positive thoughts your way. Take care.

Thank you all for your kind words of support. It truly does help to have support such as this, and it means a lot to me. Much much appreciated.
Ex-T did leave me in capable hands. My new T is very good, very nice, and has about 30 yrs of experience.
Still, 13 yrs with ex-T...so much went with her.

My thoughts are with you. I'm glad you transitioned and have stable support. Someone else here lost their T unexpectedly and she really struggled afterwards with getting help just to deal with the loss.

Have you decided if you will go to the funeral?

More hugs

I like poetry or using other people's words to express myself when I can't seem to find the words myself. So:

"What is lovely never dies, but passes into another loveliness, Star-dust or sea-foam, Flower or winged air."
--Thomas Bailey Aldrich

"For each thorn, there's a rosebud...
For each twilight — a dawn...
For each trial — the strength to carry on,
For each storm cloud — a rainbow...
For each shadow — the sun...
For each parting — sweet memories when sorrow is done."
--Ralph Waldo Emerson

I am so sorry for your loss.

I think this is the reason that most T try not to get their clients attached to them. You are suffering a loss that if you had not been in therapy for so long with her (13 years) you would not be. I know I was in therapy for nine years with the same T and it was horrible when it ended.

Do you plan to stay in therapy that long with this one. She has been doing it for 30 years and she will probably retire soon. I would not want to see you go through another horrible ending.
Thanks for this!
