I am too cheap to buy coffee at coffee shops. I have an aeropress and electric kettle at work and an espresso maker at home.

I just hooked up my new external speakers to my laptop...they pretty much rock. $20 on Amazon. For some shows on Netflix or Hulu I was having to use headphones to hear them because my computer has such crappy volume control. Except with headphones...then it sounds like I am in an Imax theatre.

Baby-shower-planning question for the couch: If a lesbian couple is pregnant, do we involve the non-pregnant spouse in the baby shower planning process? I think I ought to ask her, just to be safe. Anyone ever handled that sort of thing before?

I would just go by the principle that a feminist ideal was to be inclusive and cooperative, rather than divisive and competitive.

Unless they play softball or soccer - in which case they are all about the competition.

Honestly I have done it both ways. If it is a surprise -I would make it for both of them and don't ask either for direction. If it is more all known by everyone -then talk to both would be my way.

I think with your positive outlook you'd make a great supervisor.

I think we'll have to involve the non-pregnant one either way, as she can put us all in touch with the pregnant one's friends/coworkers. They just announced that it's a boy today; I think the entire neighborhood shouted in celebration and unison when we all read the mass text. These two are an effing amazing couple, and this is gonna be one awesome kid!

Apparently the ban on ignored posters being able to post on threads where the op is the one who has them on the ignore list has been lifted. If true across the board, it will make new couches easier to start.

Wait. So if I have someone on an ignore list and I start a post, they can now comment? Did I read that correctly?

It doesn't apply to me too much as I don't have anyone on my ignore list I don't think but good to know.

IT seems to be true. Or maybe there is an exception or glitch going on.

So if someone's on your ignore list, do they just not see your posts? I always thought it just hid them from my sight.

I recall now that I had one person a while back and I just did it because they were irritating me and I didn't want to see their posts anymore. They aren't around now so that works out for me.

If someone is on your ignore list you see their name but not their post. I think they see everything that gets posted.

Okay. That's what I thought happened. But apparently they couldn't post on your posts?

That seems odd. Then they would know they were on your ignore list...

Yes - when someone on an ignore list went to post on the ignorer's thread - it did come up that you are on their ignore list - so you did find out. Why would it be odd to know - I think it is better to know.

I think more that I don't want someone else to know they're on my ignore list.

Potential drama perhaps?

Since they can't post on your thread (or used to not be able to do so) and they can't pm you - the drama potential would seem small.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
