I have been having the most difficult time finding a therapist that one takes my insurance Medicare and can address my issues that are in this order of severity: eating disorder, social anxiety and PTSD. Supposedly she could help with the social/ptsd. However when I was talking to her today I explained I wound up in the ER over the weekend and I injured by leg due to the over-exercising she said what does that have to do with the eating disorder - tells me right there she had no clue of eating disorders. I switched off that subject and said I would like to learn coping skills so I don't turn to exercise as my form of release. She then asked me what was stressing me again she knows how isolated I am due to the social anxiety - break me something I could try and I even suggested like exposure type stuff just put out there I am not ready for group type things just yet and that was highest on my list of things I fear. She really didn't off much of what I could do. I got frustrated and left the appt before it was over. I am so tired of this!! I just want to find the help I need and deserve but not many providers are trained for the specific help I need.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been having a difficult time finding a T

You are taking a proactive approach in an attempt to address the areas of concern that you have highlighted.

Hmmm, yes even I can get the correlation of injuring your leg and the eating disorder, so I can't say from the top of my head I understand in what context your T made that statement.

I understand you are not ready for group things. I think that we know our best in these types of situations and if your social anxiety is that high and it's causing you significant concern, perhaps this is something that you can look into at a later stage of your recovery.

Just as a suggestion, have you verbally expressed to your current T what you have stated here? Might help for you to get their input. I'm not justifying for one second that what was said was right (especially that link with the exercise - that left me speechless) - because maybe your T needs to be aware that the strategies that are being suggested to you at present are not helping ...

I was thinking rather this approach and then somewhere down the track if it's really not working look into another one? It's just that I think that right now you do need the support of therapy because you're going through a lot.
