I told my t that sometimes I feel upset or uneasy in session and I am not aware of it right then and there. It takes me a few hours to put my finger on it, to identify why I am feeling irritable or unhappy about something that had happened in session. So I asked if she'd be able to stop and ask me what it is I am thinking or feeling. She said that yes there are people for whom there is a lag time between sensing something and making the connection in their brain. This lag time frustrates me. I want to be able to be aware of my feelings in the moment so that I may address them right then and there. To that end I asked for her help. I asked if she'd be able to stop and ask me how I feel or what I'm thinking. Any thoughts on this subject? |

hey. i find the same thing too. often it is in the nutting it out afterwards that i make the best insights into what is going on for me. often it is in writing a post about how i don't know what is going on... and by the time i've got to the end of it i've figured it out.
lol. part of it is human nature, i think. i think that it is something that gets better with practice, though. especially as (over time) we get to know ourself better. thats cool that you want to try and figure things out with her in session :-) but don't underestimate the value of the work that you do afterwards too :-) |
