I have a new therapist and I'm not even sure if she can help me and I don't have an emotionally connection with her. Nevertheless, I have the urge to cry in session. Thankfully last time I left then started crying.
I would feel better about crying if I knew 1) I could trust her and 2) we had a better relationship. |

I know how you feel. I always get the urge to cry in my sessions and I have to work hard not to. I am afraid of crying in-front of anyone but especially my T.

I also hate crying in front of people. I try my hardest to hold back my tears. But often times I can't control it and cry anyways.
As far as trusting your T, that takes time. I've been seeing my current T for 6 months, and I guess I'm finally starting to trust her. I didn't have a real connection with her at the start. Now I have a little bit of one.

I always feel it is T's job to win your trust.

I'm afraid of crying in front of anyone, including my T. Actually, crying in session is worse to me than crying in front of someone else. I trust my T. I was just told my whole life that crying is stupid or its for babies my whole life. I hear that voice in my head every time I cry and that makes it worse, so I just don't cry.

I wish I could cry in T - just to please him- I think he's frustrated I really don't get that emotional in sessions. I don't try not to cry - the tears just won't come. Until three seconds after I walk out a session, and then the water works start in earnest!

Sometimes I cry the entire time, while I talk. I've given up on eye makeup.
